The thing about Wood is that he's not even that bad of a guy. He's not a criminal. He's not stupid. He's just, I dunno, kind of cancerous. I've said it so many times, the dude simply can't get out of his own way for some reason. He should be a borderline all-star, but it'll never happen because he won't allow it. He's the most frustrating player I think I've ever seen.

It takes a VERY STRONG org and a well defined role (Gunner) to get the most out of him, he can't be the GUY, but if his role is scoring and rebounding, with occasional rim protection, he can do that.

And he can thrive at that, to me put him in the 2nd unit as a primary or tertiary score first guy and you are good.

I don't disagree with you in general terms, but I disagree with you in terms of adding him to our team. If i am a team like the Miami Heat with strong culture, a grizzled championship winning coach (who is among the best) and a team full of tough vets who won't tolerate bs, then I'd strongly consider Wood for a role like that.

But where the Rockets are at right now is trying to build that culture and identity. And you can't have vets on the team who won't buy into that. And Christian Wood is not going to buy into that. He'll never be a strong defensive effort guy and so he's not the right kind of guy to add to our team full of young guys who need to learn how to play with effort. That's why they went and got 5 high effort guys. That's clearly the culture they're trying to build.

I do see that - he is the typical "Me First" archetype......but I like guys that are efficient and he is that.

However, if the Org decides he has a negative impact on our core, then fine with that as well.

So Stone should sign him because Ime can fix him.

Then when Ime fails to fix him (like every other coach Wood has had)...

STONE SHOULD BE FIRED FOR SUCH A STUPID MOVE!

I suspect Wood was another of Silas's big projects.
Instead of focusing on building a winning team, that jerk concentrated on the individual turnaround success of a couple of players.
I think he envisions himself as a hero of sorts, like a fictional 2-yr-sober ex-college coach who makes it his mission to both make it to the state finals and saving the troubled kids from alcohol, drugs and gangs.
Brief: Silas was the only reason Wood had so much PT in spite of playing like a pos.

Sounds like you've dialed back your expectations on Wood a bit.

You can be weirdly reasonable these days, sir. I applaud your growth as a human being.

I think the term you're looking for is "self destructive". Same dudes that are dating great women and then break up with them just to go back to some crazy OnlyFans chick or something. They can't help themselves. It's almost like they don't want to have good things happen to them. There's another player on our team that has elicited this behavior as well.

Wood and KPJ are stat padders on a bad team. That's about it. We got them because no one else wanted them.

So what would you call every player we’ve had over the last few seasons?

Well Ime doesn't have to fix him. He just has to be able to get him to buy in to what they have going on. I think Wood could do that off the bench. You'll definitely be adding firepower to that squad.
If push comes to shove then just surround him with defenders.

Think of it this way. Wood scores more or equal to our current starting C and he would be coming off the bench. Can't beat that.

Haha that is one thing they would not be. One low iq guy is hard to overcome, 2 is borderline impossible short of having jokic and lebron with them

No, as we don’t have jokic or lebron. If you are gonna play 2 morons, they have to balanced out with brilliance. If of course we trade for jokic and lebron, that would change things (though ask yourself why neither of those teams are interested in wood)
