Silas will be a very good assistant coach for them. That's his niche. Not everyone is cut out to be the boss, and that's okay. I still like the dude and wish him the best.

Again, you're cherrypicking datasets and ignoring context to make your point. Eason was also 282nd in the entire league out of 539 players in DRtg, chief. Kessler may have been No. 1 on that list, but he was 67th best league-wide.

You're using a single stat to try to make a point. But that single stat is not a good stat to make that point, because it's ignoring a ton of important context that's needed to understand that statistic. Bad defensive teams will result in good defensive players posting poor defensive ratings. Period. It feels like you Googled "Alperen Sengun defensive stats" and ran with the first thing you saw without considering whether the stat was valid or not.

Let's use a different statistic instead: defended field goal percentage. Sengun's was 50.3%. That's decent—roughly middle of the pack for centers. He's right between DeAndre Jordan and Andre Drummond, for context. It's better than Capela, a guy who many of us (myself included) were hoping they'd add this offseason for his defense. How about opponent shooting less than five feet from the rim? 66.7%—again, middle of the pack, just ahead of guys like Theis, Bryant and Valanciunas.

My point is, using any singular statistic to make a point is usually not a good way to go, especially when you're talking defense. And if I were going to use a single stat to make a point, it definitely wouldn't be DRtg.

You kinda lose credibility when you say Sengun is a better defender than Capela. I dunno if even Sengun himself will make that claim since he already said Bruno Fernando is better than him on defense.

Also De Andre Jordan and Drummond are not good defenders. If your metric says they are and Sengun is somehow a better defender than Capela then that's probably not a good metric to use.

lol. I literally never said that. I just said that Sengun had one stat that was slightly better than Capela. Is this how you argue? You just cherrypick datasets and then ignore legitimate points from the opposing side while forcing strawman arguments into the discussion? Suffice it to say I've made my point, and I have better things to do with my time than to feed a troll.

What legitimate point are you making? That Sengun beat Capela in some random stat? Lol you're the troll here not me. BTW I'm not the one who said Sengun is the worst defensive center, Im not Stat Muse. You're the crazy who suddenly went insane when you read something bad about your idol.

    hmmm..double checked, a little bit.
tho no comparison, different height and different position, but I do feel MacGrady's jumper is more fluid (thanks to his lumbar/core strength). Bari should do more low back exercises, concentrate on strengthening with the abdominal muscles.

That doesn't mean he can't or won't help the other players.

high five! that's what i was thinking!
and, most possibly that's one of key reasons Pistons sign him, they know Silas did a pretty good job here (tanking wise).

It’s only summer league, but yesterday was cathartic. Only time will tell if Bari will take that next step in the regular season. But it was nice to see the improved ball handling, it was nice to see the improved shooting efficiency, I knew he was a decent passer, but he has more in that area than I realized. Very happy for Jabari, and hopefully this gives him a confidence boost going into camp. Tari is about as consistent as you get, and continues to look like a core piece who can play 3/4. We are honestly set at the 4 for many years to come with Jabari/Tari.

Two years from now Cam is going to be a real factor. If his development trajectory tracks the way it should, we are going to have a great options at the 3 long term as well. Very exciting to see him look more for his teammates and play more under control in game 2. It’s pretty clear to me that he’s going to be a good shooter; his stroke looks great. Looking like a very worthy pick at #20.
