After the 2 summer league games i repeat Summer League Games not playoffs finals games. Rockets fans over hype and think jabari, tari and amen are the next mj, lebron and magic. Guys they played as 2nd NBA jear player vs rookies and g league players. Its ok if they played well its more like an 5 vs 5 street game not nba regular or playoffs game. Jabari, amen, tari whitemore are at best role players nothing more. The only 2 player at Rockets who will maybe be all star players are green and sengun. So can u guys chill and think about where they played its summer league nothing more. They took like 10k attemts vs zero defense. Lets see how they play vs embiid, gobert, greek freak, smart .... jabaris stats for the new season will be: 12/4/2 , taris: 9/5/1, amen: 13/3/3
The level of insecurity from SOFs is pretty amazing at times especially with the player comps they attribute to Sengun.
Sengunians getting nervous. They didn't count on other members of the team improving from year to year. All of a sudden the franchise player has some competition.
There’s only 2 or 3 real SOF’s and this one just happens to be the dumbest. It’s just like some of the Jaylen fans that think they have to tear down other guys on the team to prop their guy up. We happen to have some really good young players that look to be getting better and will have to prove it going forward. Re-builds take a long time unless you luck into a Lebron or Shaq.
This along with guys who try to convince me that Sengun is a good defender make for some Twilight Zone stuff at times. To each his own.
Quit putting words in our mouths. No one is saying they are the next MJ, Lebron, Magic etc.and also don't tell us how to feel about SL games. We are fans. We CAN be excited to watch our young players. FOH with this insecurity talk. Why are there so many miserable people on this forum?
U can chill and know these guys are only 19/20/21 and enjoying the development of all rockets players is the best part of going through a rebuild as a Rockets fan
We can consider ourselves extremely lucky that we have so much young talent. Jabari did this against Detroit's summer league team: 38 pts on 13-25 fg, 7 rebs, 6 asts, 3 threes, 1 steal, 1 block. That's really, really good. Alpi did this against Lebron's Lakers in the regular season: 33 pts on 14-17 fg, 15 rebs, 6 asts, 2 threes, 4 blocks (including against Lebron). Also not terrible, especially for someone who is only 6'8, has slow feet and can't jump. And of course Jalen has several "scoring explosion" games as well.
No Green is the franchise player Green has is jealous petty fans also. Sengun gets all the attention as usual
It's summer league. The guys are playing against other draft picks of the past 2 drafts and some journeymen. They haven't had many practices to be a real team. All of that is true - we shouldn't overestimate summer league. But it's also not nothing. We can see the development of our 2nd year guys and we can see our rookies compete against players, they will also compete against in the league. Most of the time, good players will look good (unless they are really raw) and bad players will look bad (unless they get hot). Not everytime - it's far from a clear correlation, but it's still related. And people are excited about the team and the players are giving them more reasons to be excited - that's a positive. Nobody is saying Jabari will definetly be the next KD. And for fans of a single player - it is really a bad strategy to talk bad about other players. That leads to "regular" fans wanting to defend those players and in turn showing the deficiencies of that single player. Often times that leads to an overcompensations, so these fans talk a lot worse about that single player, simply because they feel like they need to defend the other players. Whoever remembers the Linsanity days - that was really bad... Let's not get to that level with Sengun.
Jabari wasn't doing half of this stuff last year. Theres more to player evaluation than box score stats.
