Jalen is definitely looking bigger already. That's going to help him play better defense and finish better through contact. Good that he's working out, but videos are never an indication of how much people are working out. The organization has publicly put him on notice though so most likely he works his tail off this summer. It's a great idea for him to get some chemistry going with FVV whoever's idea that was. Sengun/Green PnR with FVV/Brooks/Jabari spacing the floor is going to be awesome. Yes I know those shooters all had their worst shooting seasons last season, but I also believe all of them are better shooters than that. If Sengun is making wide open 3's, then we'll even see a lot of 5-out offense we've barely (never?) seen. He'd be deadly in that setting. This is a make or break season for Jalen. He'll either have redemption or be traded. It's been a TOUGH road, but I still believe he's going to emerge as a star and the best player on this roster.
Some of these guys shouldn't be on the list because they score as role players. Trey Murphy and Sharpe specifically. Very low unassisted rate. Most of their slashing is through the Chandler Parsons special of being the recipient of a unset defense from a drive and kick
Banchero has more bag than Antman but Antman is real good for sure. Franz yeah debatable but I have him at 3rd-4th. Real good 2nd option it seems. Basically a scoring Josh Giddey who doesn't have the ball in his hands that much.
that landing is so fluid. crazy to think this guy is only going to get MORE athletic the next 5 years.
This chapter I'm guessing will make it well into the early part of the season after chemistry is established, Green is rockin' and the bandwagon starts getting heavy.
Time to come back to this thread. You know I love to talk **** when the chips are down. I'm hearing great things in the media about Jalen - aside from the Christopher video stuff. Rockets said they will give him more responsibility and demand more accountability. FVV has said Green has impressive strength in the workouts they've been doing. He's certainly looked stronger. Green told Udoka he's willing and ready to do anything to help the team win. As I've said time and time again, Green had by far the most difficult situation of any top prospect the last two years. Not just bad, but the worst. The worst spacing. The worst defensive help and last line. The worst offensive execution from his team. The worst coaching. The worst culture. He received way too many shots. 14 and 17 shots per game for a HS'er with 1 month of G league experience? 30+ minutes for a guy who showed up like a twig with no fundamentals? Look at how Kobe was brought into the league. Slow, gradual involvement. Giving Kobe more shots and minutes would have made him look really bad and messed with his understanding of good habits. No organization has willingly done that. What we should have seen on a normal basis or even an average rebuild was to start him off with 20 minutes and 10 shots. However we're now in year 3 and have signed a HC who seems to be an excellent culture setter. Jalen has learned the the freedom he got was fun but not conducive to winning. It was literally given because it was conducive to losing. We're going to see a major step up from this young man which we should have seen last season. The floor will be better spaced even if our shooting is not better. The offensive execution will be more crisp. The defense will do well at point of attack (first line of defense) and better rim protection (last line of defense). The team defense will help him more often. The accountability and culture will force him to work harder. He's going to lead this team in scoring obviously. If he's going to remain on this team - which he seems to want - he will try his best on defense and improve his fundamentals there. Very excited about next season. I predict 24ppg and by far the best TS% of his career along with the kind of defensive effort you expect to see out of a young star scorer who cares about winning. I don't know that his defense will be good, but I know that he will try just as we saw him do sometimes in his first two years. He's not a selfish or lazy kid. He'll buy into the new culture and rise to the level of young star scorers in the NBA. If you believe in Green, next season will prove we were right all along.
