Those mid tier injuries could be annoying and nagging.

His defense was a lot better than I expected and that raises his floor quite a bit. I know he had all the physical traits to be a good defender, but the instincts were what I found impressive.

I think he'll still struggle in the NBA at first on offense, but that's why it's good he won't be in a position where he has to start any time soon.

How is it that his soft lefty underhand layup never gets blocked?

Green is very controlled with his athleticism also lol. Shitty take.

In fact Green has a much more in between game than Amen entering the league. Amen sees the floor better but Green is more refined in his bag and dribble entering the league. Amen has his head on a swivel always looking ahead and seeing were his teammates are. Something I hope Green picks up from Amen.

Green also had a higher scoring efficiency in the Gleague than Amen had in OTE.

There’s a world where OTE just doesn’t translate at all and Amen turns out to be a complete bust, I don’t think people realize how significant last night’s game is in taking that scenario out of the picture. OTE is just such a new thing without precedence that we don’t know how it would turn out. There were draft experts who said the twins were undraftable because there is no way to evaluate the OTE, so kudos to whoever in the front office who saw through that.

With that said, we still at square one with Amen figuring out his jump shot. He’s taken the worst case off the table, yes we can tell that by just one game whether his athleticism would translate. But he could still be a Michael Carter williams if he can’t learn to shoot. Although now I’m thinking he could be a Ben Simmons who is willing to shoot and without the brain block, which is not a bad outcome - an allstar, dpoy candidate and number 1 pick in most drafts.

Ben Simmons came into the league stronger but don't think he had Amen's level of generational athlticism

Also Amen seems to have a very good head on his shoulders. That will go a long way in him not busting.

I think that's overstating it a bit, while I agree with you that the game was huge for him in addressing some of the concerns, I think we need to see more before we go all the way to saying the worst case scenario is still off the table. He also picked up a ton of fouls really quickly at one point and if it was a real game rather than Summer League, that would have taken him off the court.

I'm very encouraged by his showing, especially on defense, but let's not knee jerk too far the other way.

However, I will say that I think there's a pretty good chance that he's our 3rd best guard behind FVV and KPJ by the end of the season.....which isn't bad for a really raw rookie.

Simmons is also bigger at 6’10 which matters on defense. But having heart and actually willing to work on his shot and taking it in games is going to go a long way for Amen. Simmons was a very good player, but even outside the mental issues he just never improved his game.

Worst case I think is now athletic Michael Carter Williams. The worst case that I’m taking off the table is nothing we saw at OTE translating at all, since that was a joke league made up solely to make the twins look good. There was no half court offense and their opponents were all 14-18 year olds while they were 19. You don’t need sample size, you only need to watch one minute of summer league to see that his athleticism is translating against nba level athletes just the same as it did against OTE scrubs.
