Yeah he can still be an all time great but I think it might be a fantasy to think he's going to cross over many guys with his height. I think thats the first thing thats going to humble him, dudes in the NBA are too laterally quick to let someone his size consistently get past them.
I'm glad it is Spurs problem. Both party could of handled it better especially the security guy, look behind instead of being a snobby security guy keep walking. Britney could of yell at him instead of trying to poke at him. Remember the security guy apologize to Spears so he clearly should of handled it better. I remember days when Yao would go around Houston without escort.
Thing is he was drafted first because he was a "unicorn", a 7 foot 4 center with point guard handles and passing to go along three point shooting and defense. Looks more to me like a traditional center that got to handle the ball because everyone else he was playing with was even slower than him and smaller. He better put on some serious muscle if he is going to be effective because this ain't going to cut it in The NBA...
If he doesn't man up and become a precense in the paint, his floor is literally Bol Bol. He'd just waste his ridiculous length jacking up threes which would be stupid.
He's going to struggle with the physicality in his first year. He needs to get stronger, but his handles and passing has been good/great
dude needs to get more physical and his play style looks like he's settling for jumpers and will get stripped a lot
Imagine Wemby trying guard Jokic or Embiid, he would get destroyed. If I was a Spurs fan I'd be a bit concerned....
He is going to get stripped regardless, this is why you can't really use him as a ball handler. He is too tall, happened to Yao all the time. They have to use him as a traditional center.
I said it a little while ago but I still see a Gobert that can shoot and better passing. His shot blocking though is so effective that you may as well not even attempt if he's around but he's going to be on the bad end of many posters with how frail he is. I don't see a Ja or Green or any other high flyers very intimidated with him under the rim.
Wife and I watched all of the Denver-Milwaukee game and of course all of the Houston-Portland game but this last one is unwatchable. Wemby may or may not be the 2nd coming, but he’s not more entertaining than Love & Death.
