https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/TBA/TBA202304260.shtml Pitcher: Hunter Brown Catcher: Yainer Diaz Opponent: Red hot rays. I rest my case.
I never could quite understand all the hype on Brown from last year on CF. I mean it was great that he was excelling, but I didn't see the overwhelming "stuff" that caused these over the moon forecasts.
Everybody here took the pitching for granted after last season. All the questions that were brought up have unfortunately held true (everybody won’t be injury free, LMJ is a huge ?, Javier has never pitched a full season, Brown should not be allowed to get close to 200 IP).
Agreed. They keep saying "starting pitching depth", and that to me implies someone slotting in 3-5. **** that. We need another legit ace.
We need a #2 pitcher. Framber is going to do his thing, we need someone at that level. The problem is all the high profile pitchers are struggling this year. So if you want a Cease, what the hell are you getting? Not last year's version, that's for damn sure. So I'm trying to think who would be available and be the right fit? That won't be any easy chore to pull off this trade deadline by our GM. We may be looking at guys like a Hendricks from the Cubs or someone along those lines.
I'm not ready to give up on Brown yet until he's allowed to pitch to Diaz. The difference has been too night and day. Frustrating all the way around though. I agree that pitching is becoming the number one priority at the trade deadline.
Some people here may have been too caught up in the World Series celebration to remember this but Maldy demanded a trade if he wasn't the starting catcher not too long ago after.....he tweeted it and then deleted it... I didn't forget though.
Seattle just has our number this year offense back to sucking. It’s 1 step forward 2 steps Back with this lineup
go back and watch the game where Brown pitch a shutout against the Rays back in April. a ray team which was lighting every one up. guess who was the catcher?
We always seem to catch teams when they're hot. It blows. Mariners have been mediocre as hell most of the season. Not surprised they're putting it together considering the All-Star game will take place at their place after this series. Julio hasn't been great but started picking it up after being named to the HR Derby and All-Star.
