There aren't many rational takes from people who think Alpi is by far the clear best young player on this team. Cmoak maybe one of the few who believes this that doesn't constantly trash Green or blame Green(or KPJ) for all of Sengun's issues. But again he would be one of the few.
At least as of now, Alpi is the best young player on the team. That can easily change if Green starts averaging high 20s in the low 60s in TS%, but most of the advanced stats in their first two years shows Sengun as the superior player. My opinion? I consider the rebuild a failure if the Rockets don't emerge with a true superstar, that being a guy who can be a number one option on a title winning team. Alpi, far more than Green or Smith Jr, has the path to becoming a top player, though that's mostly based on if the rumors of him being 6'11" are true.
Apparently there's a fair amount of doubt, from the front office, to the coaching staff, to the fan base.

This is one of the issues I have with comparing a young scoring guard asked to be the center of defensive attention and score at all levels and a big man who does triple pump fakes at the three point line with 0 defenders within a 6 ft radius around him. Other things overzealous Sengun fans ignore. They b**** about his minutes which is a sincere complaint but then ignore the fact that when they compare on/off numbers that inflate the level of importance of Sengun, that Sengun unlike KPJ and Green does not mimic the rotations of the opposing team's starting unit. He is one of the first to go to the bench in the first quarter leaving a situation where Green mirrors the starting unit rotation of the opposing team while Sengun doesn't meaning Sengun plays against weaker players more often than Green. Then you look at how Green has by far the highest usage rate bump between wins and losses. In fact Sengun's usage rate drops when the team wins. Also look at the team's record with Sengun not playing vs Green not playing. Then you look at how much Green positively effects Sengun's efficiency (7pt difference in efg% with Green on the court vs off the court with Sengun) yet no where close to the same impact the other way around. And as someone who has league pass and still rewatches a lot of Rocket games this past season to this day, it's clear why this happens any time you see a PNR run with Sengun(opposing teams basically ignore his existence).
Sengun haters sure have a lot in common, all ****ing weirdos with clear mental issues and too much free time.

There you go. When did I say I don't like Sengun? This is what I mean. It's amazing. Someone thinking Green is the more important player for this team's future means they must hate Sengun. That's how little room for discussion there is with Sengun fans. You are a hater of Sengun if you think he isn't the team's most promising player. This leaves very little avenue for people like you to accept ranges of opinions for Sengun. He hast to be the best player on this team or you are a hater.
