KD is one of the only players that’s done that. It’s not about him being liar, it’s just how it goes in sports. Some of you would know if y’all ever played

How would you know if I've played sports or not lmao.

I've probably been closer to being pro in sports than you have buddy.

It's true that a lot of players lie about their height but I think lying about growing is kinda different than that. It seems weird that someone would lie about growing if they were still the exact same height, like, everyone would just easily be able to see that you're still the same height lol. I'm not saying I 100% believe him, we gotta wait and see how tall he is when he steps on the court. But I don't think exaggerating your height (lots of nba players do this) is the same thing as pretending that you grew if you didn't grow at all.

And why would you assume your player, with no history of bad behavior, is lying rather than telling the truth, about something that can be observed physically? That's not normal.

We’ll see! I hope he is over 7ft with shoes, so then he can provide some kind of resistance at the rim

Why are people so obsessed with inches and centimeters? Does it really matter when you can just look at his performance? Did he improve offensively and defensively? We'll know in a few months.

No. I am a fan of Rockets since 1998 (when i was 13) because of Hakeem. Sengun was not in the World that time.

If u start to talk reasonable things it's ok. But i know, u are a hater. Anyway, where your guy lob threat Bruno plays now? In Jamaica?

You’re obsessed with one player too. You just happen to not like him, even though he’s the best young rocket on the team

Personally I think it's really important for his defensive development. I know a lot of his fans think he's a good defender but I don't. When you play center you've got two options - you can either be a smaller center that's really quick and agile that can guard the perimeter, someone like Bam Adebayo, or you have to be a rim protector. If you aren't one of those two things it's gonna be tough for you to stay on the court as a center. I don't think Alp has the stuff to be the Bam type, I just don't think he's quick enough to do that. So for me, the only option left for him to be effective at C on the defensive end is for him to be a rim protector. You can't protect the rim if you're barely 6'9. So I think him growing 2 or possibly 3 inches is absolutely huge for his ability to be an impact defender, rather than a defensive liability.

Less important (but still important) is that it helps him offensively too. There are so many times where he goes up for layups rather than just dunking the ball, and he'll either miss the easy one or get it blocked. Add a few inches of height plus a bit of NBA-level training on his explosiveness/leaping abilty and he can dunk it down every time.

Basketball is not the same game, accept or not. Lob threat type players is nothing in todays basketball.

I watch basketball games all over the World. Look, last week Turkey U19 team beat USA 19 team in World Championship Tournement easily. (84-70) Do u think Turkey has lob threats? No. But European guys knows basketball better, and use their mind like Alperen Sengun. Just watch the game...

I don't disagree that physical size is important. My point is that he's not a draft prospect anymore when you had to project what he could or could not do. He's a player who you can judge him by how he plays, not how big he is. If he's half an inch shorter than ideal, so be it. There's nothing we or he can do about it. What he can do is to use the tools he has to be the best he can be. I don't think it's that much difference between 6'11.5" and 7' in terms of size advantage. Strength is more important for overcoming being bullied down low, and that's something he can improve by training.

I agree with this as well. If Sengun was some theoretical guy who had yet to play an NBA game, I'd care a bit more. But we have data on how well (or not well) he is able to protect at the rim (plus other numbers). I'd rather look at that vs going crazy about a few inches. If we were talking about 6+ inches, then maybe this is a different story, but I have difficulties believing this changes things much either way.

And just so we're clear, I actually think Sengun can be an adequate rim protector. There are guys in the NBA with similar size that have decent rim protection numbers (better than Ayton, Embiid, Jokic, etc.). Sengun is at a disadvantage for sure (compared to a Lopez, Gobert, etc), but the gap in size can be made up in other areas. Whether he is able to do that will depend on him, but I'm not sure a ruler will really tell us that much. I'd rather Sengun be 6'9" or 6'10" with perfect rotation accuracy/defensive angles than 7' and lacking in those other areas.

Of course, if he was 7' and perfect in every defensive area, that would be ideal too. :) But I think these 2-3 inches matter fairly little compared to these other things.

edit: and yeah I kinda just repeated what you said. :p

LMAO that U19 roster for the US didnt even have Isiah Collier, Justin Edwards, Ron Holland, Justin Bradshaw or even Cooper Flagg on it. Cody Williams was the highest recruit on that team. What about professional players from both countries? Who would win? "Lob threat" players are a big part of the NBA and American basketball because we actually have the athletes to play above the rim. Wake me up the next time Turkey beats the US in a meaningful game with both teams staffed accordingly.

Puff come on man, u just won by 1 in OT. (With NBA players) It's not like old days. Now European basketball is so close to USA

Denver won NBA Championship, Jokic is a lob threat? No. Just accept it. Basketball is different now.

So an outlier in Jokic has changed the sport? The "lob threat" there was Aaron Gordon and Jokic benefitted from having him!

We've been hearing about Euros "playing the right way" for decades now. Im happy that you can take some nationalistic pride from the good European players that are able to scratch out careers over here, but dont get carried away.
