LOL Smart guy skips over actual stats. I'm happy that VV cooked some dude's. Hope he does much more this year. You fail to realize (cause you're blinded by the sack in your face), that regardless of a couple of clips, JG wasn't the problem and easily outplayed Porter. There's many reasons why every GM and coach in the league would choose Green over your boy. Hopefully Udoka can correct this. We'll see. Yes this is my agenda "dimwit".
Yes, part of the problem was they had no other true ball handler that made FVv feel in complete control to do whatever he wanted. Not like Nurse was going to sit him when most predicted the Raptors being near 4th seed (me). Infighting as a result made worse by VanVleet freezing guys out. Often I watched Toronto last year seeing VanVleet having two guys wide open and him taking a contested 3. Thinking what is that....he had plenty of time to pass the ball to an open shooter. Their fans said much the same. If you filter out sour grapes, they said about 80% of the truth. VanVleets numbers have been coming down steadily since Gasol/Kawhi left the team. More since Lowry left. Some guys are not meant to be number 1 ball handler. Better off the bench. Reminds me of what some here say about KPj
Your agenda is to follow me around like a little lost puppy, and seeking attention from me.....good riddance...so tired of DDingleberries. DD
That's my agenda? Coming from you Chum, that's funny. And I do respond to all of your ish. Anytime you're pushing BS neg ish while pumping your BS why not? Amazing... Love the dingleberry spelling. Narcissist much?
FVV ranks in NBA last season via tracking Tightly contested FGA : 91st (5.1 per game) Tightly contested 3FGA : 31st(1.1 per game) Very tightly contested FGA : 64th(1.0 per game) Very tightly contested 3FGA : tied 43rd(<0.1 per game) Clearly this guy was freezing out teammates to jack contested crap shots all season like no other. Where do people come up with the garbage they make up and present as fact?
My agenda is to support the guys we have. The team players. The guys who do not quit on the team or put themselves above the rest. Period.
These were probably shared before, but here are some random interview videos with FVV if you want to know how he thinks: Spoiler Not sure there's a lot in there we didn't already know. I did like one thing he said. Sorta paraphrasing, but something like "I know I worked harder than anyone else on the court, so when I'm on the court with KD/Lebron/etc, I know I belong." (again paraphrasing, he might have said "better" actually haha) If he can instill that attitude and work ethic in the young core, I think that could go a long way to helping them reach their full potential. FVV is less gifted than all of them, and there's no reason why they couldn't do the same (and end up better).
I don't think FVV was freezing anyone out, but his shot selection was really suspect last year with him taking many ill advised shots which tanked his efficiency. Raptors had one of the worst spacing in the NBA, they got a bunch of 6'9 dudes and none of them can consistently shoot 3's, FVV become the default bail out person because who else could dribble/drive. He was also Nurse's boy and had the freedom to shoot whenever he wanted. I do think that FVV has limited court vision, his role on that Raptors championship team was a scoring spark off the bench with tough-nose defense. He will make the correct passes on drives, but he was never a floor general or play maker in a traditional sense. I still think we are better off splitting play making duties between Sengun and FVV, and then mix in Amen and Green.
Yeah, the bit I watched the Raptors, their offense seemed like a mess. Well not as big of a mess as the Rockets, but still not very good. It seemed like if Plan A didn't work (which was often), they'd just give it to FVV to try to create a shot. And he's just not great at that. I *love* this deal, but FVV just can't be *that* guy on a team and put up efficient numbers. I'm sure he'll do some of that here, but ideally JG or someone else will be doing that while he can be a release valve in the corner (or somewhere else for a open shot). I do think he was a better playmaker/passer than I initially expected (I thought of him initially as a SG turned PG), but I don't think he's necessarily elite at that. He makes the right plays (didn't seem to freeze guys out), but not sure he has the vision or ability to make the plays that a James Harden, CP3, etc. can make (or possibly a Sengun or Amen). I'd put him above JG or KPJ though.
so what happens now when this team consistently is worse in that regard, including giving $80 mil guaranteed to someone who will play major minutes that is also a sub par shooter
yeah it might not be pretty, the Brooks signing is just a head scratcher. The hope is that Jabari does what he's drafted for (3 point shooting), KPJ who is already a good C&S player remain that, and Jalen Green's 3 point percentage go up with more open 3's.
Touched on this in my post, but ideally you *don't* have FVV as the main creator, and he can be the guy in the corner (~42% career) who hits catch and shoot 3s (can also hit elsewhere at a high clip, especially if he returns to his 2021-2022 numbers). Having him isolate or hit stepback jumpers against set defenses will not be pretty though. So hopefully they don't do that. edit: Also Dillon Brooks is a decent C&S guy as well (especially in the corners), but the problem there isn't his shot. His problem is he'll be wanting to isolate and hit stepback jumpers no matter what anyone else says. :/
that still presents the similar issue as Toronto assuming they are better. OG/Trent had a solid year from 3 last year
Honestly, my only hope for him is he is a good leader and role model because I don't see him having a long career with his lack of athleticism DD
