The player that Memphis stated would not be brought back and whom many around the league were thinking he was going to China. That was before the Rockets became stupid and said "You know what's a good idea? We need to give the best offer we can give to that player and give up a bunch of assets for him." I mean, wtf, didn't they learn from the awful Oladipo trade?

Careful. Lots of folks want to make excuses or convince you it’s okay. If u think accountability is important they call u a hater or “negative”.

    That's not quite right.

All that was effectively done to sign Jock Landale...

But think of it as effectively paying 2 2nds to dump salary to make the space.

I don't agree with it, but the outgoing players are all guys we didn't want to play this year, so

    in the same trade,
the Nets dumped Mills' $6.8M salary by giving up a 2nd round pick from MIL. that's dead last in the draft
the Rockets dumped 3 recent first rounders (Garuba/Jaygup/TyTy)'s $6.8M salary by giving up FIVE 2nd rounders?! (3 to OKC + 2 to Atl.)

again, in the same trade, how's that fair??!!

True. I’m not saying we should have kept those players, but the return should have been better than Landale.

    I'm with you!!

We may turn around and be shocked at how good Jock is in a few months time. But that seems unlikely....

I see a lot of folks forgetting the context behind some of these agreements, we were dumping salary to make room for Brook Lopez.

Lopez decided to back out of his verbal agreement, meaning Stone would either have to back out of his deals too, or honor them on principle.

It sucks, Lopez screwed us pretty good on this one but it's not like this package was put together in a vacuum by Stone thinking this is fair value for the assets we're giving up. Don't assess it as such.

My take is yeah it's disappointing, and screw you Brook Lopez.

I keep reading this on the Rockets Twitter. What is the source of this? Do you have any? Please tell me you have at least one link of a paid journalist. I've only read speculation.

Sorry could not find any source saying Lopez backed out or anything similar on his deal. It seems its wishful thinking from his twitter boys. Cant find that information anywhere else.

I’m not falling for the Lopez is the bad guy talking point.

Stone and Co. should know better. Stone was here when Bosh reneged on us and I’m sure there have been plenty of other FAs that have also been close and changed their minds.

This is just a bone they threw at Jackson, Ben, Kelly and Co just to get some pity when they showed their ass in public.

Stone ****ed up. Royally! No sugar coating that. It just is what it is, and it should probably cost him his job, but this is the Rockets we’re talking about. Accountability hasn’t exactly been their thing at times...

Not having a backup plan when you give away assets doesn't just suck. It's bad management.
