Per Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, the Houston Rockets are going to have a 3 Guard lineup. PG- FVV SG-GREEN SF-KPJ PF- DILLION BROOKS C- SENGUN BENCH: AMEN, TATE, TARI, JABARI AND LANSDALE We need Green outside shooting and NBA experience in our starting lineup. We will have better spacing in the lineup. We will be faster and quicker starting lineup with better shooting. I do not think Jabari is ready to start and might not play well Friday evening in Las Vegas. FVV, Green and KPJ reminds me of Celtic's Smart, Tatum and Brown. The Celtics could not play well together, Smart was complaining in the media that the Stars on the team does not pass the ball, Tatum and Brown was playing the best version of "My Turn/Your Turn Offensive scheme and people are quietly saying they should split the team up. Ime showed up and taught them to play TEAM BASKETBALL and elite defense. Celtics were not known to be a defensive team. Green and KPJ reminds me of Tatum and Brown. I think we will have a great defense this year, we might be missing a shot blocker for now. KPJ and Green both can score 20+ points in the lineup, and still run the ball through Sengun with great spacing. Jabari is not ready and I cannot go through a game with 1-11 at the 3 point line and Jabari after the game keep saying, "I'm going to keep shooting until I shoot myself out of the slump"! What do you guys think?
Dillon and Fred have never played for a second team besides their original team. I am not saying Jabari should start for the whole season, just the first 5 games. I am pretty sure, Udoka is changing lineups faster than Silas was.
I'll believe it when I see it. Ime doesn't strike me as a small ball type, regardless of Brooks' defensive reputation. No way he's running out just Sengun to protect the rim, it's bad strategy and puts too much defensive pressure on one of our best offensive weapons. I could see Bari benched, but I think they run one of our taller forwards at the 4.
If Jabari comes into camp as bad as last year then he should be limited. Hopefully he has improved himself to the point they have to play him.
I don't think Jake knows, but the lineup he suggested also had Sengun on the bench with Jock Landale starting. 42:25 mark
Everybody will have to earn their starting positions according to Ime. I don't think anybody is 100% locked into a starting role except FVV and (unfortunately) Dillon Brooks. That said, I believe in Jabari's intangibles and history, and I think the improvements he showed toward the end of last season will continue into the preseason. I expect Jalen, Jabari, and Alpi to all earn their starting roles fair and square over KPJ, Landale, Green, Holiday, etc.
Bari averaged something like 15/7/2/1/1 the last month and a half of last season. He's the long, switchable 3 and D PF you want that fits next to Sengun. You brought in a point guard who should finally be able to get him good catch and shoot looks. Benching him in favor of a small ball lineup with Sengun at center makes zero sense to me. Someone will need to explain that logic.
Jake Fischer never suggested that the Rockets “are going with this lineup” as any sort of inside info. This was 100% just his own opinion.
Brooks isn’t a PF. Too small for guys like Jaren Jackson or AD or Zion. He isn’t even a great rebounder. I don’t get it. Brooks isn’t a starter in my opinion. This starting 5 lineup has glaring defensive weaknesses everywhere.
Well after reading the article it’s what he thinks lol not necessarily reality. That’s a bit of a relief. This is a very undersized lineup.
I do not trust Jabari. His defense was average and shooting was bad. We cannot just CROWN him as a starter. Also, if KPJ is not a starter he is going to start acting up and we need KPJ's shooting
No young unproven players are getting crowned anything anymore, Ime Udoka was crystal clear about that, so you can relax. Jabari will only start if he earns it.
Let Dillon Brooks and Jabari compete for it. We know Dillon Brooks is awful offensively and good defensively and last season Jabari was bad offensively and mediocre at best defensively so it could be close.
