Rockets deal for Dillon Brooks (4 yrs/$86 million + incentives)

I'm not saying Green HAS to guard the best player. I'm saying he should be able to. Teams can devise ways to target players on defense and may be able to switch onto him.

He doesn't seem to care about that end of the court as much. If Ime can't get that out of him then it limits his ceiling to maybe a Lou Williams role.

The better solution is to have 2 players at 2/3 who can defend well but also contribute on offense something, even if it's just a catch and shoot role.

I would not be shocked if KPJ beats out Green for the job in camp. It's obviously Green's job to lose. We'll see how he responds to coaching... I hope he's suddenly developed some focus and intensity on D...

 

Sorry, also side note, MJ was around for about 5 seasons prior to Pippen...

 

If Brooks can keep the controversy to a minimum and is a DPOY candidate clamp God then this will be worth it.

 

I blame the League. This was a 9 million dollar contract in 2014, likewise that 9 million is a 20 million contract in 2023.

As for Brooks, just tone it down with the chucking. That's what coaching if for right?

Hated him too, but I'm giving him a clean slate. He has every opportunity to change this, it's just choices. There's at least a small chance he'll improve his shot selection, be less selfish and choose his words more carefully in the media. Until the season unfolds, we can focus on that small chance.

I see it more like giving Udoka a chance rather than Brooks a chance. At worst, he'll be an excellent player for Jalen to against in practice. If it doesn't work out, keep reminding yourself that his salary shrinks every year.

 

It is bad and I don't like it. But it isn't one of the worst even in Rockets history.

 

He brings a lot. Just hope he tones it down. Think the shot selection should get better under Udoka. That goes for everyone.

We do need a dawg like him, could just do without the screaming and dancing when you make a lay up.
