You are insinuating that teammates and personnel of each player
    are comparable and equal:

    Stat..........Toronto........Houston
    DRtg............12th..............29th
    ORtg............11th..............27th
    Pace............26th.............16th
    Pts...............24th.............28th
    Coach.........Nurse...........Silas
.................................."Tanking...didn't implement movement until 3/4 of season
    ....(Tor) often played zone def

You really have to scrape everything that happened over the last two years. The suppression of potential and talent by Silas is finally getting unlocked.

Realistically I am expecting 35 to 40 wins this year. Anything below 30 would be a total disappointment and would finally question the team players, especially the guys that have been drafted over the last 3 years. Even without Brooks and FVV we were a 30+ team last year IMO.

Add Ime, new additions, and subtract folks who got shipped this year and we should at least win 35 games.

less than 30 games = disappointment, needs drastic changes.
30 to 35 games = minimal imporovement, need to add one superstar
35 plus games = on the right path, add another couple of solid guys, keep core
40 plus games = exceptional, keep most guys, look to improve bench

That stat is either bugged or useless. I suggest you click the next page button and see all the players it says adds 0 wins.

Raptor rating handicaps for teammates and opponents, that’s why it is much more useful than whatever garbage stats you were using to suggest kpj is equal to fvv or Brunson. I’m one of the few people here who don’t hate kpj but that’s HILARIOUS!

Why would new orleans fall apart worse than last year? Zion going to miss the entire season and Ingram going to miss 50 games this year??

I just don't pull stats out of behind.

I ask the most basic question of all, "Why?"

This is why guys like you and M.I.T. types fail.
You just peat and repeat stats.

If player x got this stat on team c.....they will be the same.....wrong.

Are you going to bring long wingspan players that are mobile like Siakim, Precious, Blanton, Barnes, Bouher, Poeltl, OG Anunoby, Trent with him?

3 teams play high level zones over the years,
Heat, Warriors and Raptors. Raptors used Gasol near the rim and flanked him with Kawhi and Siakim, Ibaka. So no Raptor doesn't work when you only consider 3 top notch defense out 30 predominantly using Zone defenses.

I have the ability to envision one player playing on another team and switching places with another player. VanVleet numbers would go down playing on that Rockets team last year. Deflections and steals would be decreased. Their fans say he gets credit for blocks as he actually steals the ball stripping bigs. But he also gets steals roaming in help defense in those zones flanked by long wing players everywhere on that Raptor team.

Not the same luxury in Houston last year.

Dillon will help and Landslide.....but again
Our you guys will take about half the season to start getting it. You don't just throw zone defenses at high level and they get it over night. Amen probably never faced zone in overtime elite.
And those players were God awful on defense.
The laid out the red carpet yo the rim every play.

KPj would have had more deflections, blocks, steals playing for Toronto. And more assists

I assume this is a snarky comment about KPJ, but if you meant it honestly, here's my answer.

For starters I don't think a 30 win season is a failure. I think an 8 win improvement is a nice improvement and I wouldn't consider it a problem or look for someone to blame. If we're in the mid or low 20s, that's when we've got a problem. But going from 22 to 30 isn't bad.

Secondly, this is impossible to answer until the season plays out. I think there are a few major factors that will determine whether we win the low end (25ish) or the high end (38ish) games. And that range is just based on my personal opinion. If we end up on the low end it means both Sengun and Jalen failed to make the leap. Especially if we see regression, Jalen could enter "bust" territory. And if Sengun hasn't gotten any better, hasn't added any range, and the rumors about his growth spurt are fake, he probably solidifies himself as a bench player at best. And then we have Jabari, who was supposed to be an elite 3 and D player, yet he came into the league as a guy who cannot shoot 3s and also cannot defend. If he has another season shooting 30% from 3, that's gonna be a problem. On top of all that, I'm not convinced that Ime is anything special as a coach, he inherited a really good roster and got pretty similar results as the guy before him as well as the guy after him. Like Luke Walton as an interim for the warriors where he went like 40-5 or whatever it was that one year, I think it's possible Ime is another one of those. Just kinda showed up and watched his really good players do the same **** they did under Brad Stevens. That doesn't mean I think he's bad, it just means I don't know what to think about him yet and I don't have him penciled in as an elite difference-maker like a bunch of people do.

As far as free agents go, it's also possible that FVV is only a marginal upgrade over KPJ. The advanced stats heavily favor FVV, but the box score stats are really similar and KPJ is a significantly better shooter. So maybe FVV isn't much of a difference maker at all. There are also reports that the young guys in Toronto really didn't like him, so that could be a big problem for our team if it plays out similarly. Add Dillon Brooks onto that, the guy who cannot shoot and has never been able to shoot. His defense is obviously good but maybe he rubs guys the wrong way and he isn't able to be that vocal defensive leader, which would lessen his impact by a lot. You can't be a leader if guys don't listen to you, you need guys that like you and will fight for you, not guys who roll their eyes when you bark at them. Maybe he has attitude problems that are exacerbated by his teammates disliking him, so his effort level isn't at 110% all the time like it was for the Grizzlies. So we end up with a good-but-not-great defender who is one of the worst shooters in the league.

Anyway I could go on but I think these are probably the biggest factors that will determine how well we do next season. And just to be clear, I was laying out the worst case scenario for all of them. I don't want people to think I'm all doom and gloom, I'm not predicting all of this to happen. But if the team disappoints, I think it's likely because a couple (or possibly all) of these things happen.

I would put my expectations at ~35. There were so many games last year where we were up at halftime before completely breaking down in the 2nd half. I think a more disciplined defense under Ime will allow us to convert on a lot of those closer games.

I no idea how you are writing essays on this when you have never even seen fvv play. That’s why you keep on bringing up salty Raptor fans takes on him instead of forming any of your own opinions, cuz you don’t even know who you are talking about.

Dummy, I was watching FVV play all season because we were targeting PG's for two years
    with this off-season in mind.

The fans opinions matched what I saw.
    His own interviews.

I'm done talking to your dumb non informed @$$

Watch the Athletic video on the Rockets.

Guy on left bottom quadrant gets it. And none think the Rockets will make play in

From someone who thinks kpj is on the same area code as fvv or Brunson calling anyone else uninformed is RICH. IDIOT thinks he knows more than Udoka who said number 1 priority was to get a point guard here to replace your boy. Wish I could take back my bet with @YOLO so that I can delete your ass from here instead. You want to take the under on 35 wins instead since you are so confident?

Guy on left bottom is a fking MORON. Sign one year deals and push cap back to next offseason? These same idiots were the ones crying about how much of a joke our culture was and how dysfunctional the team was and now he’s crying that we signed good players to change that? If you push the cap back a year you waste another year of development by your young core playing without any competent point guard, and what happens if you miss out on FAs again next year, push it out again? Absolute arm chair quarterback idiot that is hindsight 20/20 and does not take into account real world consequences whatsoever. Btw what FAs did we exactly miss out on anyways according to him? We CHOSE Fvv over Harden, he was our top target and we got him. Lopez was the only FA we missed on and we did indeed signed one year contracts of Landale and Jeff green in his place. It’s no wonder you agree with this dude with the tiny ass brain.

Im looking dead at Udoka and NONE of the players if this team wins 30 or less games. This is all on him and depending on an upgrade being available I'd fire his ass first day of the offseason if it happens. He's supposed to be "HIM" as far as coaching - everyone's #1 guy so it will be curious to see how it all shakes out. He's got "his" players (whom Stone paid handsomely) the expectation should be that they play the way he intends so IMO there really shouldnt be any reason why this team wins less than 40 games and is in the play in hunt. Anything less will be a colossal failure.

So far 70+% of the votes think we improve by more than 10 wins and it seems like quite a few of the posts are expecting that as a baseline and that only 10 wins more would actually be a disappointment.

Some going as far as 40 wins should be the expectation.

This is not a roster that should win 40 games, it’s one that could approach 40 if almost everything goes right(which almost never does). Looking at the teams that won 35-40 games last year…OKC, Dallas, Utah, Indy, Chicago ….Everyone has a player better than our best. Some of those teams 2nd best player would be our best.
