We need a LH bat. Brantley is done. Doesn’t need to be a star. SP is deserving at going after Tier 1 guys

The Giants have 4 lefthanded hitters who can play LF (Conforto, Yaz, Wade, Pederson). Any of those seem like they’d be a good add for the Astros for the right price. Would probably have to be a buy/buy trade since SF is in contention.

What the hell do we have to trade them in a buy/buy through? Can’t be any pitcher or OF and those guys all seem better offensively than Jake. trading Chaz would be crazy. I don’t see how any deal gets done like that.

A deal they can circle around since certain players don't get player enough!
Would be Verdugo and Paxton for McCormick and 2 minor leaguers not in our top 10.
Verdugo can hit behind Altuve or in front. It doesn't matter he hits the ball, he gets on base.
This is what the Astros are needing. A LHB who gets on base.

I’m sure Brown is better at this than me, but I sure don’t see the need for a bat, just force the manager to play the good bats we have. We need a really good starting pitcher and to get Javier right before the playoffs or we will not be in the WS this year. We all know that Framber, Brown, Javier, and France will not cut it unless by some miracle Javier gets his mojo back and Brown gets some rest. Garcia’s injury was devastating to this team’s chances.

This is why i was hellbent on them going after Nathan Eovaldi during the off-season.

Agreed, unless Brown can trade for a guy like Cease or Giolito etc... Get a top of the rotation guy and a top tier reliever and the pitching will be solidified. France has been a revelation, very solid.

Brown needs to find another Verdugo type guy because He can't depend on Brantley coming back.

This really comes down to paying the price for having Bagwell and his anti analytics as the defacto GM this off-season. Example: do you think Luhnow or Click would've brought Montero back?

I don’t see the need for another OF, unless one is traded to get a pitcher. Brantley probably isn’t coming back. McCormich, Myers, Alvarez, Tucker, Julks, Dubon is really great depth and good starters, especially if McCormick has finally got his due. We still need to keep some of our good prospects. A good starting pitcher is probably going to cost us at least two of our top prospects and some major league talent in my opinion. I’m just praying they are not stupid enough to trade Diaz.

Disagree, they need another high contact, low strikeout, preferably lefthanded hitting bat. You must think more of Jake and Julks, who I would add to a deal to get said OF.

I’d add both. My point is you can’t get both a TOR pitcher and a guy like Verdugo without gutting your system and I would much rather get a SP than a bat we don’t really have the much room for. Starting OF can be Tucker, McCormick, and Alvarez. I’m not sure there is better hitting OF in the major leagues. Dubon, Julks, Myers is a better bench OF than most any team in the league. Not to mention the OF’s we have in the minors.

You dont think that trading some of those minor league OF and a young pitcher like Ullola could get you a rental like Giolito?

Say Leon (Who can also play IF plus Dirden and MLB guy like Meyers and Ullola couldn't get you Giolito?

Trading Gordon and Corona could get you Verdugo.

Now is the championship window and the time is now to strike while the iron is hot. I dont consider this to be gutting the system.

Jose Abreu's re-emergence, Alvarez return, and Bregman's expected second half improvement leave me feeling that our offense may be the best in baseball post ASB.

SP is what the Astros need and maybe one more good reliever to make up for the Montero struggles. Thats it.

No thanks to Soto. I'd rather take Snell if possible. I think we could land Snell by trading away Lee + fillers
