After today he might not be 8th anymore. His last several years he has been trash, including when he was with us. This year he has been better but I have no faith in that continuing.
Don’t think Dana will win a bidding war with them… but they will be the #1 competition on the market.
His last time he's been really effective, 2018/2019 seasons with the Giants. 2020 though 2022 3.78 era, that's called a serviceable relief pitcher that you wouldn't want in too many high leverage situations. That brings us to 2023, where he's been really good up until today, but we I've said more than once I don't see him holding up the entire season as closer. Aroldis Chapman may be a bigger pickup than anyone ever considered.
Bill Doran, my first favorite Astro and baseball player, is going to be inducted to the Astros HOF on August 12, and I will be there wearing a Doran jersey. I'm pushing 50, but damn I'm pumped about that
It will cost them. That’s fine, the last thing the Rangers need to do right now is trade top prospects because this cute little run they are on will be even shorter.
I personally thought this series was massive for the rest of the season. At this point I don’t care how we win as long as we win. Let’s get fully healthy - let’s perhaps grab a starter and let’s ****ing roll!
The Astros did pay Will Smith 1 million dollars this season for his option buyout. He earned that money today.
I hated last off-season everyone just crowning him our defacto 2 and being good there. I always saw him even at his best being a 5-6 inning guy because he can’t manage a pitch count. And if teams just learn to swing an inch or 2 higher on a fastball then what’s so good about him? sure enough it feels like teams have figured him out. We need so much pitching help.
