Those guys had upside and plus stuff regardless of their inexperience... plus that was a f'd up year regardless with only 60 games. This is not that.
More likely to be a riot in the locker room when a player continues to cost his team wins without changes being made.
Something about this win, with the Rangers thinking they'd just completed an epic comeback only to lose it in the 9th, makes it so much sweeter. The Astros have some major issues with the roster right now, but winning teams find ways to win. Here's hoping this is a sign of what's to come the rest of the season.
Dusty doesn't make the roster decisions. But beyond that, the Astros are just rotating their marginal players to keep bringing up fresh arms. Blanco will be back up after the ASB next week.
15 games before we play the last 3 games of the season vs the Rangers. We need to figure out how to win 10 of these 15 games as the schedule is much easier. 4 Colorado (3-1) 4 Seattle (2-2) 4 Oakland (4-0) 3 LA Angels (1-2)
Changes haven't been made and there hasn't been a riot. So either this isn't true or the player isn't costing his team wins.
I've got the perfect formula... pitch well. I will triple down on this no matter how much complaining it creates. Great hitting teams are so transient without pitching. Great pitching teams typically win divisions/pennants/World Series. Ideally, you want both... but if you had to choose only one...
Rangers now 10-15 in their last 25 games. So are they closer to the 40-20 start or the 10-15 slide? If they play essentially.500 ball the rest of the season, they'll end up 89-73.
Oh I don't doubt the importance of pitching, we won a World Series last year because of it. That cannot be overstated. Don't expect more than 1 good starter and 1 really good relief pitcher at the deadline. Bringing in a battalion just isn't in the cards. With Urquidy back, you have 4 proven starters in post season (Brown only pitched in relief, but still). We have to figure out Javier or move him to the bullpen (which might happen depending on the quality of the starter we acquire).
