Which 39% fg shooter were you referring to? Our top signing FVV or our other signing Dillon Brooks. My goodness, those are our big additions in addition to the awful shooting Amen Thompson. NASA we got a problem in Houston!!!

I don't consider Dillon Brooks as a long term player, he is just a salary filler. That position is Tari's to lose in the long term. Additionally his regular season FG% is 41.6%, little bit higher than FVV.
Great posts by the way Ankara. I politefully disagree about Brooks. He is long term as he signed a 4 year 80 million contract. Nobody in their right mind will take that off our hands. 41% still sucks and watch him play….biggest selfish gun on offense and usually shoots 4-12 (minus a hot game or two). He will retire a Rocket with that contract and you’d better believe he’s not getting 80 million to be a backup to a second year player making 1-3 million.
That is the problem. I have an Etro Paisley shirt, bought a decade ago, wore 6 times and still keep in my wardrobe because I paid huge amount of money. If Rox agreed to pay $80M to an average player, will be reluctant to bench him.But I believe that Tari is such a good player, he will overcome Brooks obstacle as Sengun did for CWood,DTheis,FBruno,SSilas. And also Rox benched $45M player (John Wall) for a second rounder, why not benching DBrooks for a FRP.
Look man, you can’t compare these. These are draft picks, the teams have rights to them, no other team can sign them. So there is no real market, the $7M per is still >2 times more than what they make in Greece. Brooks could get offers from every team in the NBA and he probably got some. A proper beef would be, "how come these teams were able to get Vezenkov/Micic, while Rockets never got Lull to come over?" And I don”t know the answer to that: was it the V-Span fiasco? Was it Mauri lowballing him all the time? Was it Lull personality? Who knows…
FVV had 9 shots from 3pt range last season (at 34%) - 10 the season before (at 38%). That huge amount of 3s get your percentage down. But 34% is bad? Yes, that's a lower number than you'd like. But let's not make a bigger deal of it than it is. The difference would be hitting one more three for every 15 missed shots, or hitting one more three every third game. Of course, that's a difference. But its not like one is great, the other horrible. And why is his percentage lower? Because he is taking a ton of bad shots. On offense this should be a major point of emphasis. Don't take bad shots. FVV, Brook, Jalen, KPJ - all of them will be way better players, when they take out long contested jumpers early in the shot clock.
It is better you check the facts before commenting. VMicic was paid around 5MEuros ($6M) net+fringe benefits (cars, house, travel costs,.) in Turkey which is much more than his gross income in OKC. Secondly, if you are able to give 130 milllions to one, 80 millions to the other, 2 FRP+cash considerations for a non-available player, you are certainly can do something for draft rights of non-NBA players. FO is not an hotel to sleep. Llul of Spain, VMicic of Serbia are kind of national heroes. You can't behave them as if they are unfinished NCAA products. Micic declined to join OKC as long as they did not promise him starting minutes. And also these people lived in Madrid&Istanbul, premium cities of the world. You have to offer something more to convince someone to relocate to Oklahoma City.
You cant imagine what FVV would do in Euroleague setting. I am from Europe. Look up recent Patty Mills Fiba WC performance
Nope We were not trying to win at all Rocket River May look bad or worse on paper But if this was college the Rockets would Be getting the death sentence for point shaving and throwing games
There are 20m roll players all over the NBA. Unless we get another vet SF Brooks will start. Tari will get more minutes this year, but will be absolutely great off the bench. We don’t know if the contract is front loaded or not. Either way he won’t be that hard to move off in a few years when the salary inflation is even higher than today. He will prove to be a useful defensive player that will probably be limited to corner threes like Tucker. You can only be a chucker if your coach lets you. Who knows but they may be another wing or guard headed our way. All we did was replace 3 bench warmers and KMJ with 3 useful vets who don’t tie up our flexibility in a year or two when we will need it.
You need to allow players like Green/Sengun/Jabari/Eason to get more experience and see where this team is headed as the Rockets are counting on them to be the future of this team. Give the new coach a chance as well with the current roster. This team needed a PG which they got in FVV. It is not like there were that great of players available in free agency either to prematurely give out long-term contracts. Been quite unlucky with the lottery too. Let's judge midway through the season and give management a fair chance. It is simply too early to tell.
I thought micic could really struggle a lot. Coming to the nba at a late age is very hard, regardless of your talent set. You don’t have time to change your body, it takes time to get acclimated to the game, you are slow. I don’t see micic making any real impact.
I was going through guards in my mind. Teodosic is a more recent and more similar example. Coming at a later age is also harder for the centers in todays game as well. Sabonis is really a very unique case.
