As one of you (Rockets fan) I try to understand/digest what is going on signs/trades/Red Wedding nowadays. As far as I understand Rockets was/is the worst franchise due to: 1.Has to overpay to lure any player. 2.After all these years could not create a leader(s) as 66% of participants voted FVV as the new head honcho designate. A mediocre newcomer is the projected leader/saviour/messiah. 3.All Rockets-rejects of the last two seasons struggled to find new contracts/contract extensions or even playing time : CWood,EGordon (just signed $6M/2 years-LAC did not want his service),DTheis,GMatthews,FBruno,..No one considered S.Silas as HC for their vacant positions.Fattah could only found a job in Down Under. Denis Schroeder is the only exception. 4.Had to give away/waive younger players such as KJM,TyTy,Garuba,JoshC,Garuba,Nix, sometimes paying to the other part to take them. 5.Ryan Hollins is still there. No news about cutting his service. 6.Future projects' (Tari,Amen,Cam) playing times were limited by new signings TyTy was given away,Tari might not get last year's 21.5 mpg Playing time and Amen won't get starting minutes as #4 pick. Cam is already lost case. My projection was to win 41+ games at 23-24 campaign. I am not sure anymore. If the team was so bad and the new guy is a 39.3 % FG player, OKC will be very happy at the end of the year. Not happy.
I know people know what basketball is, and I am sure they know what basketball is. I think they are doing 1 step forward, 1 step backward kind of progress.
1 step forward 1 step backward does not take you anywhere. It is always Square1 process. They should know this after kindergarten days.
I will get back to you after the first 40 games.....we would know a tremendous amount more about that season. We leave no corners unturned.
What you will say after 40 games? 15 wins against last year's 10? The team suffered 3 years and got FVV/Brooks as compensation? Kings signed Sasha Vezenkov for $20M/3 years, much better player than DBrooks. Without SSilas a progress is certain but having FVV/DB/JL when you have $60M+ cap space is disgusting.
The last couple of seasons were bad. Not because we were losing. For a rebuilding team I can live with a bad record. But because we had trouble to develop our young players and handle our assets right. On the field was chaos. We didn't have any structure. That didn't help players like Green or Jabari. Sengun seemed to be kind of an afterthought - he got the ball to do whatever a couple of times a game. But we didn't develop him as either a post presence nor a high post playmaker. We have played our high picks >30 minutes a game, even when they were struggling, our midround picks ~15 minutes a game, even when they were hot and our mid 20s picks very sparingly to almost not at all. The result is, that they don't have any worth. Will TyTy develop into a quality starter? I have no idea, because he didn't get a chance to show that. Can Garuba be a Draymond lite? Again, no idea. So we didn't develop our young guys right and we didn't get our late first rounders a chance (and played guys like Nix over them) - all the while we didn't care about a culture without accountability and winning habits. We are a mess and are now trying to fix it, and it costs us. We could have gone with a true pointguard and vocal vetern leadership in the last 2 seasons without giving up too much playing time or cap space. We chose not to. That's on Silas - but also probably on Stone.
The FO is being deliberately vague on season goals, they do not want to lose fans. It is really depending on what you want out of that team. If you want to have Hakeem like performances, this team does not have 1 Hakeem, not 1 Moses, not 1 Harden, not 1 Yao, not 1 McGrady. If you are okay with winning 32+ games this team might be something for you. Going into this with too much expectations, nah, not for me.
We were about top5 worst ever. Same goes for Detroit. Dellusional if you think otherwise. It was College team in the NBA.
We were. But we had our chance. Get rid off Silas, 4 wonderful young players, #4 pick and $60m+ cap space. OKC will pay $23M/3 years to VMicic, better player than FVV and Kings will pay $20M/3 years to Vezenkov, much better than DBrooks. Being bad and insisting to be bad are two different things. The only positive outcome is we will have JGreen/Alp/Tari/Bari/Amen core when these salary fillers (FVV,DB,JG,JL) dumped.
I wanted to ask you btw how good Micic is ....how do you see his NBA career in OKC? Is he a shooting PG?
Micic did not come to NBA earlier because he insisted on starting minutes. When he comes to OKC, his real net income will be lower than what he was making in Anadolu Efes. He will make less than $8M gross/per year which is peanut in NBA standards. I would not surprise if he or Sasha Vezenkov gets ROTY award. Josh Giddey+SGA+VMicic backcourt might be the best backcourt of NBA. Micic's BBIQ and clutch play abilities are second to none. If Chet plays well and Jaylin Wiliams continues to progress, OKC is 1 player away form WCF.
OKC is barely 1 player away from being the 8th seed. What a joke of a comment. SGA is great, the other 2 meh.
Have you heard a player called Chet? Did you watch VMicic ever? Have you noticed the improvements of Giddey+Williams? Just wondering.
Those 2 are either Euro League MVP or Euro League Finals MVP so Alperen Sengun case told us not to underestimate distinguished Euro players.

Try to swap FVV with VMicic or DBrooks with SVezenkov and don't surprise an f word answer. The season is months away. We will see 3 years action of FVV/DBrooks/VMicic/SVezenkov. One of us will be very red faced.
