No, they weren’t favored… and credit Dubin to working around some traffic. But Dusty made the right move and got him out after 4 despite some here wondering if he should have been left in. Heaney, despite this lineup’s issues, isn’t good enough to go 5+ shutout innings… but he did. I think the Astros are in fine shape going into any game. They should have a formidable 1-4 in the lineup, a formidable bullpen, and a great defense no matter who the 7-8-9 hitters are. They can win games like that, as they’ve already shown everybody with all the other AAA starting pitchers this year.
What a job by Dubin. What feels like the most important game of the year to date, Framber not available, Dubin looks up and sees Dusty and the coaches looking at him. Gave up a lof of traffic but hung in there and shut it down.
Chas: “Glad we were able to win. Glad our bullpen did a great job. Glad we saved some bullets to help us try and win tomorrow.” Dusty: Hold my beer
There’s still a **** ton of season left… safe to say they weathered the Yordan injury storm (some were suggesting they give up on the season when news of the injury duration first broke). Not declaring full weathering of the AAA starting pitcher storm till we see Framber just miss only one start, but I also feel they know they’ll have to add pitching regardless. Nobody has run away with this division. The Mariners still feel they’re in it (based on where they were last year at this time). The wild card race is also not as compelling with the Yankees having more questions than the Astros right now. I would say to everybody relax… but fully expect major implosion at the next loss, regardless of when or who.
To win with Dubin & Blanco starting is great. Hopefully Javier pitches well and we can take the series.
The entire season outlook literally changes from game to game around here, it's hilarious. Also, kudos to Dusty for actually going on the side of caution and not waiting until the pitcher is at his absolute limit and gives up runs before getting pulled.
