Jackson Gatlin tweeted about 30 minutes ago that the third year is a team option. If so, that deal becomes significantly better. I'm hoping there's something similar in place to make the Brooks deal more palatable. The big issue I have with today is just dumping the kids for essentially nothing. I'm not saying that I think KJ, Garuba and TyTy were worth a ton. But the fact that they essentially dumped them for nothing is truly depressing. In a vacuum, I like the players that have been added, including the backup center. But it feels like they're losing a lot of value on some of these deals. Hopefully the improved roster at the end of the day will be worth it.
Brooks is the worst contract in the nba right now, i'd trade him for ben simmons in a second if i had the chance
Sure, maybe he becomes a completely different player than he's ever been before. We can hold out hope for that I guess.
VanVleet: 3 years, 130 million — team option Brooks: 4 years, $80 million — no options Landale: 4 years, $32M — only first year guaranteed Mills: 1 year, $6,802,950 •KJ Martin to LA Clippers for two future second round picks •Josh Christopher to Memphis (part of Brooks sign and trade??) •Usman Garuba, TyTy Washington, two second round picks, 1.1M cash to Atlanta •Patty Mills acquired from Brooklyn for ???
Rockets, if you really look at the roster so far, have an interesting blend of talent and skill. There can be a serious amount of mix and matching the rotations.
I appreciate the optimism. However in the case of Brooks it's doubtful whether he would've gotten more than the league minimum if the Rockets didn't have a weird fetish for him.
I don’t really understand the uproar. Breaking news: Worst team in the league overpays for talent. I rather have an overpaid team than whatever that was the past 3 years
I'll say one thing, if they do manage to use this additional 20+ million, like on Williams, it does illustrate a pretty creative use of the cap. So there is that.
FVV is an overpay for talent. Brooks is an overpay for trash. You're paying 20/year to a guy who's arguably not worth the league minimum because of how much he takes off the table
I forgot he was on the team with all these trades happening and I was cheering for him being the 4th pick. Crazy day.
If they would just take a minute to read the ClutchFans Twitter account, some fans would avoid commenting so much crap!
Well Brooks went on the market when Rockets had a bunch of dough so... Never forget Clutchfans was on Brooks dick before last year's playoffs. Brooks still has the defense homie was just feeling himself way too much.
