Rockets deal for Dillon Brooks (4 yrs/$86 million + incentives)

For all the talk about "culture" and "showing the young guys how to be professionals", you bring in a guy on likely a fat contract who made a fool of himself on national television, then after being the worst player on his team in the playoffs (Net rating -15), he demands more shots and a bigger role?

If Stone and Ime were just going to say "**** the culture, bring in any malcontent we want!" They should have just signed Harden at that point, we'd at least win more games.

 

I'd be okay with the flow of the game, but you can also minimize his touches in low-efficiency spots. PJ Tucker had a specialist role on offense due to limitations and was a defensive disrupter, definitely don't want him chucking like Smith lol.

The reason I think it helps, we were 29th ranked in defense last year and terrible recently. He adds and improves the team in that area of need.

We'll see how he plays of course, but we need to improve defensively and have more toughness down the stretch for sure.

Don't care about character as long as we win at the end. If he's impacting our team in a positive way it's good. Anything else is a waste of $$$.

 

I think KPJ/Tate might be in this trade, between those 2, I think that's ~22m in salary.
Only other person left that they would be JChris which is ~2.5m i think.
Maybe they resign KMJ to a new deal and include him?

I agree, definitely don't want offense ran through him, but this past very public situation may have humbled him. His defense and mentality on that end are what I like, we'll see how he plays.

We were awful on defense and very much on the perimeter recently, he'll likely be one of if not the best perimeter defenders we have on day one.

There’s only a handful of dogs in the league and he is one of them. If the Rockets were playing tiddlywinks with the group we had prior they would win. Now at least FVV and Brooks will teach the group how to play hard and not back down from anyone. You have to have that to win. That is the ultimate goal, winning.

Dillon Brooks took 16 shots a game playing 28 mpg 2 years ago, and 14 shots a game last year playing just 30 mpg…all with sh*t percentages and efficiency
