Jabari was the biggest drag on our team last year. We would have had more wins starting Tate. If our free agent signing pushes anyone to the bench, it should be him. I expect him to be good eventually, but this team improves by taking him out of the starting lineup until his shot starts falling.
There's no chance of that. The hit to the defense would be too severe. You can't play Lopez and Sengun at the same time.
It was falling at a 38% clip from 3 the last 20 games. His mid-range is going to be special. He will have to earn his minutes, but he will get some rope at the start of the season.
Last year’s jabari doesn’t deserve to even play this year, but since he was so young I’m hoping he makes a major leap this year. If jabari is still shooting 30% then I have zero doubt that Ime would start Sengun over him.
I’ll leave that decision to Udoka and trust him on it. We certainly can’t start Jabari if he hasn’t improved.
Sure, but I'm sure he'd tell you the same thing. You can't have 2 lumbering big men out there at the same time, there's just no way to hide 2 of them from getting switched on to guards every time down the court. If the Rockets land Lopez, Sengun will get his time coming off the bench, but unless the team is wanting to tank, you don't play those 2 together.
yes you can. In fact, Lopez is the only true center on the market that u can play with Sengun because of his ability to stretch the floor. I see them on the floor together for 8-10 min a game. Who starts doesn’t matter. As long as they are both getting close to 30 min, that’s all that matters. Based on Jabari’s play last year he may not even start. I think he’s better suited to the 4 than the 3, but we’ll see what ime wants to do. but you can definitely play Lopez and Sengun together for 8-10 min a game.
I would start games with Lopez and Sengun sharing the floor then mostly stagger their minutes to keep them apart after that (except in certain situations). It'll be fine. Lopez and Sengun sharing the floor hurts the defense less than KPJ being on the floor... at all
That's on offense, I'm talking about on defense....you know, that other half of the court. It's true that Jabari was terrible for most of the season, but Sengun simply isn't an option at PF next to a real center. If Jabari comes out as bad this season as he was his rookie season, you have guys like Eason to take his spot.
And I’m good with that if that’s the call. But let’s not pretend Jabari was some defensive stalwart last year, in fact his defense was a bigger disappointment than his offense. I’m hoping, expecting massive jump from his this year, but if that doesn’t happen we may not have a choice but to start Sengun(or Tari)
This explains part of the overpayment. $25,000 x 82 = He needs an extra 2 mil per year. Seriously, though: If he talks this bluntly to our young guys when they goof off, blow assignments, or make stupid decisions, that's worth a lot.
Looking for a center, Lopez and Alp will share minutes. And again, your opinion doesn’t matter. It goes against every national pundit and guys who actually know basketball
You are correct that Jabari was one of our worst players last season, but as I said above, even if Jabari doesn't land the starting spot, it wouldn't go to Sengun, it would go to Tari. All of this is assuming Lopez comes, if not, Sengun will be the starter at C so he REALLY couldn't be also the starter at PF if Lopez doesn't come.
Rox just got Cam Whitmore, we also have Jabari and Tari. Don't forget Garuba, KJ Martin and Jae Sean Tate. Lopez is the necessity, not the luxury. We need rim protection, shot blocking and 3 pt shooting.
Y’all morons want Sengun to play the 4 if we get Lopez. Yeah, good luck guarding guys like KD with those slow ass feet lol
