If Christopher wasn’t gonna play this past season and we were extending KPJ, we should have sold high on him.

As far as KJ, we better get the equivalent value of at least a late 1st or that’s on Stone.

I would hope they could get better value than that. That being said, Martin is about to command some dollars this offseason or next. I hate to overuse the quote, but "You want to be the one who finds the KJ Martins, not the one who pays them." If the Rockets were in a more established position as a franchise, I'd be all on board with paying to keep him here. But it doesn't make sense for them to pay a long-term deal to a role player right now. And better to get something for him now than to let him walk in a year.

so a couple of things: first, who are we getting? If we’re getting an equally well-performing Center, then yeah, I see the point. But I doubt it, I think it’s just a dump. Let’s see.

second, who is in the core? That’s my whole problem with these rebuilds, we stockpile decent talent, some of them like KJM develop nicely, outperform their draft position, but it is all pointless because we don’t have a core, we don’t have a clear path to being competitive, and we already have to start dumping the players that we drafted and developed…

All sage advice - yet the Rockets went and re-signed Tate last year in the exact same situation and then promptly had him sit the bench for 50 games.

Sometimes they get high on their own supply

KJM is worth at least a late or mid 1st round pick.

all expendable especially for this team.

KJM. can be a solid role/bench player for pretty much any team. But he's nothing more than that

JC: nothing special. best attribute is to score while never seeing a shot he doesn't like, that's it.

    Garuba: flat out sucks.

In theory, maybe, but every team knows the Rockets have to dump or cut him AND he's been a problem in the past when not getting the playing time he thinks he deserves.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Rockets get lowballed

A shame we might have to take pennies on the dollar for these guys because they might flourish once given a chance.

Josh Christopher showed promise until he became a jack-a-holic (so to speak) last year, but such is life when your coaching staff sucks and plays you only sparingly anyway.

Garuba, given minutes, actually has played well, but maybe that was a cardinal sin on a team designed to tank.

KMJ I like but he's a highlight reel with braindead defense and he'll want the $$$ next year, so someone'll scoop him up.

But, hey, he came up with some great Rockets trade scenarios a few weeks back, hunh? HUNH? HUNH?

    I mean, painfully bad scenarios.

I felt like Green was better in his first year at making reads and reacting appropriately to what a defense was doing. I thought he was good at making the right pass. I think he got worse at that in his second year, with more catching the ball and holding it rather than attacking on the catch or just keeping the ball moving.

I don't have stats to back this up, but I remember being happy with how he would make the simple but correct pass as a rookie, but I didn't see as much of it last year.

I wonder if we could get Steven Aquaman Adams from the Grizzlies to help them clear salary. Would be perfect for our needs and even though injury prone would still be a good fit

We are in a situation with vets coming in where these guys’ value will continue to decrease because they will play less next season. It makes sense to move them even if it’s just punting for future draft capital.

The organization is already stated that they're letting coach make decisions on this roster who they're going to fill out this free agents what type of guys they want. I feel like KPJ is definitely a guy coach wants on the team. Obviously Jalen Green, Sengun, Jabari, and the 2 rookies aren't moving. Out of these 6 he needs to get them improvement he has said is there to be had with proper shot selection better defensive schemes and holding players accountable. Garuba has little to no trade value ATM but I am willing to bet coach thinks he can make him into a very good role player.

Jaygup is toast. Cam is 18, better prospect and can take his time working his way into rotation, this position is very overloaded as it is. Trade him to any place for future 2nd.

I like KJ but if they can move him for a fair trade then now is the time. He'll never be elite but he can be serviceable as a starter on a good team. I feel like if coach wanted him he wouldn't even be rumored. Coach wants guys that ball out on defense he came from the Spurs. He's not overly impressed by a bunch of crazy dunks.

Tate is weird fit, 6.5M this year 7M next. He'll be 28. Undersized but good defender that fouls too much. Decent eFG% .541. I have heard nothing out of coach on him so my guess is he is on the block. Maybe he can be used to make numbers work at the deadline.

That leaves Eason, it was pointed out that even though he's really good defensively he may not be a guy coach relies on because he gambles so much but I tend to think he'll figure out a way to get Tari to learn how to play within his system. There might be a learning curve.

I like TyTy but he's going to have a have a hard time trying to get minutes here once we sign a vet guard so he's really going to have to improve his game. He might make a leap. Nix seems too slow and can't shoot. If we want Amen to play we have no spot for Nix and I doubt no NBA team does either.
