Christopher has talent, he just needs minutes. But on this team, he's redundant.

He has talent, but he needs to learn that the NBA isn't a pickup game. His off the dribble, fadeaway long-2s have no place in NBA basketball.

I was surprised how he actually regressed last year, but then again Green did too in some ways. ****in Silas.

Couldn't we acquire Powell into cap space?

Edit: I do not want Powell. Just clarifying.

I seriously doubt teams are calling about JayGup and Garuba.. If they are, it's because they're bored and need a good laugh

I'm fine with getting rid of any of them if we bring back good assets. That being said, all 3 of them have undeveloped potential that is yet to be tapped, unfortunately we don't know what we have because of Silas and it's going to lower their trade value.

If KjM has value, then trade him for something worthwhile. I don't think JC nor Garuba have value, so play them and see if they can play or have value for a trade. They aren't getting us anything now (2nd rounders even?) so it's worth it to give them a year to see how they far under this new coach.

I might be fine with JC for a second if there's just not room for playing time. But I want Garuba to get more of a chance-he's a position we need and has defensive chops. That's what we're looking for.

I bet you they will end up on a contending team and we will end up taking back draft picks and salary.

I get wanting to clear up roster spots and minutes for rookies and veterans, and in that regard, dealing Christopher and Martin makes a ton of sense. I like both guys, especially KJ, but there's a logjam with guards and wings after the draft that's just going to get worse if they add some of the veterans they're targeting.

But I don't get wanting to deal Garuba. As of right now, he's one of only four players on the roster who's 6'8" or taller and one of only two guys who's a traditional big. With Lopez looking like he's going back to Milwaukee, the Rockets need to be looking to add bigs, not subtract them. Garuba hasn't been great, but he's only 21, he's a versatile defender and statistically he was one of the better players off the bench for them last season. He's shown enough in international play to warrant keeping him around, and I'd only want him dealt if there's a plan to bolster the front court depth in place.

we should be able to get a 2nd for Christopher. After all, we got a 2nd for both Bruno and Gary Bird. We probably could have gotten a late 1st after his rookie year but last year was not good.

Garuba has actually improved a lot with the very limited minutes he’s had. Agreed that it would be good to find a spot for him; I think he fits well with what Ime wants to do. He’s probably worth more to our team than a 2nd rounder.

I like Garuba as well and would think like his defensive chops. Really depends on who we sign in FA or trade for. If we sign a FA center then I don’t think he can get enough playing time to improve and you might as well dump him for whatever you can get.

That’s the problem with these rebuildings. You get picks, you draft well, you get talented players… and then what? what’s the point of all this?
KJM is a huge success story for the organization. Drafted #52, he’s #8 in Win Shares and top 20 in all other advanced metrics. Now we trade him for another second round pick down the road? This is pointless…

Thanks for the great info Iko. He doesn’t know any more than most of the fans on this board.

This tweet should read that the Rockets are close to a Tate trade. It’s too soon to move on from KJ Martin.

You draft a BPA and trade him for a position of need a few years after he builds more value. I don't see the problem here. He was never a core player.

I wasn’t surprised at all about Christopher. He clearly came-in distracted for his second year, all kinds of side-hustles, social media BS, etc.. He thought he’d made it. Very disappointing.

Green didn’t really regress, in fact he had some improvement in getting to the line more. Not enough for a #2npick, though.
