Oh because of his .840 in 2020 partial season. Look how his slugging and OPS were dropping the last 2 years. His OPS under .800 the last 2 seasons. But sure, cherry pick the covid year and ignore the trend of a 36 year old oft-injured player who now has a bum shoulder.
Look at his slugging and OPS drop the last 2 years. Under .800 OPS each year because of a pedestrian slugging %..
Are we still hoping for brantley to come back? Lol. This dude hasn't played in a year. Are we forgetting that? Did the team struggle when he was out for the rest of the season last year? Not really, they looked the same. If anything, brantley being out helped put peña in the 2 hole. But we abandoned that altogether.
Astros vs Dodgers….Dodgers down 3-7 with 2 men on base…Dave Roberts pinch hits David Peralta for Vargas..he homers and brings them back in the game. We lose 7-8. Astros vs Cardinals, bases loaded..down 2-4…Dusty pinch hits Maldonaldo for…below the Mendoza line career hitter Bligh Madris. The game ends at that at-bat. We lose 2-4.
I don’t think Dusty PHs enough but he pulled a lefty for the match up. Did you want Meyers? He’s been bad to say the least. I just don’t see many good choices last night.
If Brantley can practice, then he can play. That's what they say anyway. Play him for half games and swap him out. Get his ass out there!
Jon Singleton, or Pedro Leon is a better option than Madris. Pulling for Singleton to go to The Show.
Cherry pick the same year YOU introduced? I understand you're desperate for talking points but that was pathetic. His OPS+ was higher in '22 than '21. Not a downward trend. Understand what words mean when you use them. Answer this. Would you prefer LMJ pitching right now? Yes or no
Thats your answer? Haha. Try harder. I provided the answer to your dumb post with facts. I didn’t cherry pick. I simply listed his last 3 years. I didn’t ignore the 1st year of those 3, which is by far the outlier. I included it.
His OPS+ was higher last season than '21 and more on par with my "cherry picked" Covid season than '21. Those are the facts. Now, continue talking about your feelings with a cherry on top
I'm not saying he is a power hitter. But I would be willing to bet a mug of beer that if he got 500 ABs he would be in the top 10 in doubles. And if I lost I would still be thrilled to pay it out because he got 500 ABs. A gap/doubles hitter is different (and better) than a Singles hitter.
21 and 22 are who he is (before the injury now who knows) and ‘20 is the outlier. Why are you not getting this?
A singles hitter is what he is though. 30 doubles in 500 at bats doesnt get you in the top ten nor is it that impressive. With no triples and very few home runs, 70% of his hits are singles. After the shoulder injury I dont see that improving.
Also look at Brantley’s RBI and run totals. Not much production in those categories because he’s always hitting singles and on first base. Should have more runs scored than he does batting in the 2 hole. plus he was the king of the 2 out bases empty single to left field. This is another reason why his runs and rbi’s were pedestrian.
Rewinding back to where the conversation began... IL Brantley is one of the many factors to why this team is where it is, especially the offense
I already took care of this for you. You should have a better understanding now. I will set you straight on your future stupid posts as well. No worries, I got you.
In Brantley’s 21 season, he hit .311 which is nice. 508 plate appearances. Yet only 47 rbi’s and 68 runs scored from the 2 hole. So those peripherals should be replaced without much difficulty. The average was nice and he was definitely a big part of the team but average production from his hits and walks.
