KMJ is easily the most exciting Rocket when on court and jumps quicker and higher than any other player in the league. Two years ago he dunked on every 7-foot giant in the league and last season he shot 55% and had a +12 when on the court with the second unit. Without KMJ that same second unit was -8. Mark my words and this post…..trading KMJ will come back to HAUNT this Rockets team big time.
I really like KMJ. I hope we keep him. His chemistry with Alpi and Tari was great, as evidenced by their fantastic net rating together. Trade KPJ, keep KMJ.
i love what he's done but at the end of the day he's a 6'4 forward. time to cash in his super cheap contract and send him to a contender for a future pick.
I don't think anyone hates KMJ. The SF position is crowded already and they will likely add another this off season. And we just added Cam. He lacks a consistent 3 point shot. His defense is average at best. He has Interest from several teams according to "sources". Why not get what you can for him? It's business. Nothing personal
Why not trade Tate instead. He is a good player but not exciting to watch and isn’t nearly as explosive as Martin. KMJ is special and doesn’t have a big contract. Cam, Eason, and Martin are the future at small forward. Get rid of Garuba, Tate, Christopher, etc. before dumping a really good young explosive talent who has improved each and every year.

I like the kid, but he'll be looking for $$$ next off-season and he's a role player (whose man D is poor at best). He'll be gone.
If we sign Brooks, he will start at the 3 most likely. Eason backs up the 3 and 4. Cam may back up Brooks. Maybe KMJ can beat Cam out for minutes. If not he would be 3rd team at best. There's a log jam for minutes if we keep him. I agree with trading Tate too. I like KMJ. I just don't see a pathway to keeping him long term.
I would like to keep KMJ but I also wouldn’t mind if he was packaged for a clear upgrade. I don’t understand shipping off a guy that contenders want just to ship him off. At some point you’re going to be contending (hopefully) and then you’ll want a guy like KMJ that you already had. What’s funny is that a lot of people want to add Bruce Brown who is basically an older, smaller, less athletic version of Kenyon. Their 3pt percentage, ppg, assist are basically identical. BB is a much better free throw shooter and his defensive rating is a bit better and Kenyon is a bit better rebounder. But Kenyon is cheaper, and 5 years younger. If they move Kenyon hopefully it’s for a package that gets you a legit starting caliber SF like Bridges.
Is there really any "hate" for him? He just doesn't really fit on the team anymore and he wants to have a chance to play. Wanting him to be moved is doing what is best for both the team and the player.
I haven't seen anyone hating on KJ. I think he's an NBA caliber rotation player. I just don't know if I love his fit on our current roster. Tari Eason is a better defensive player and a better shooter, which are the two things we need most from the 3 spot right now. Cam Whitmore can also probably match KJ's contributions inside of a couple years with more upside as well. KJ will be getting paid soon. This is the best time to trade him and get max value.
I dont think anyone hate KJ. People just trying to figure out who is going to be squeezed out of the lineup. Man, Practice is going to be crazy trying to make the rotation.
I love KJ! Y’all are just too attached to players. How is this team gonna reach their goals if they don’t upgrade the roster? He’s gotta go, I’m sry
Unless they can get back a good player or nice asset, they should keep him at least til the deadline to see what he can become under Udoka. Already has great chemistry with Sengun. Want to see him running the break with Amen.
I like his game a lot, but why not trade him for another player that we can lock up for 3 or 4 years on a rookie contract? Why invest in a 22 win team? We need to consolidate our assets, and have value contracts. If the Rockets were a top 10 team and we could keep Martin 4 more years on his rookie contract, then that is the sort of value contract that title contenders need. I'm happy to keep KMJ as well, I'm just afraid he's gonna get overpaid. Let someone else pay us to overpay him.
