    What a jackass thing to say....Entrepreneurship does indeed come with risk, but it should never be the risk of government overreach. I didn't take you to be a proponent of authoritarianism. Guess I was wrong.

    Aside from JuanValdez's comments, the government doesn't put policies in place for the sake of punishing businesses. It has deemed these ovens to damage the immediate area.

    Political Science 101, we form governments for protection, from outsiders and from each other. What about others' property values? It's not like these policies happened out of the blue, there has been plenty of time to prepare

    The overall impact of coal pizza ovens in NYC is very minimal to climate change compared automobile emissions in a city of 8 million people
    They forcing small businesses to hire a consultant and possibly spend $20K in equipment
    pretty much just to satisfy a woke checkbox for lactose intolerant vegans who never eat pizza there
    @basso

    As mentioned on the video, there are much higher priorities facing NYC

    the optics here are just terrible. NYC is spending EIGHT MILLION DOLLARS A DAY to house migrants in various shelters across the city. The pizza scrubber rule is projected to affect perhaps 100 businesses. The City of New York could EASILY pay the $20,000 for each of those 100 businesses as a gesture of good faith and as an attempt to "put your money where your mouth is" if the argument is that this pizza policy is needed for the health of the people. You have tax-paying business owners in NYC being treated shabbily while the city continues to spend astronomical amounts of money elsewhere without seeming to bat an eye. This pizza issue is worse than the Big Gulp in terms of p.r.

    I think there are pizzas that vegans can eat bro. If all the pizzerias are required then all the pizzas will go up in price and meat loving MAGAs can keep enjoying Woke City, Woke, the town so nice they named it twice

    honestly? "real" New York pizza is not wood-fired or coal-fired pizza. It's the generic thin-slice that comes from every shop on every corner. The artisanal wood-fired thing is something dreamed up by hipsters to look cool :D

    It's not a climate change / CO2 emissions issue. Read the article you posted. It's about particulates (soot). The equipment doesn't reduce CO2, it reduces soot.

    Pizzerias who have already installed these have said there is absolutely no difference in the pizza.

    You must have me mixed up with someone else if you thought I opposed a well-regulated marketplace. I don't want businesses imposing hidden costs on the commons. If they can't afford to not pollute, there are others who can.

    You guys should have a look at what the socialist/"green" government of Germany is doing to put people in debt, forcing them to change their heating, all under the guise of "climate change".

    Reality is, the more you make people dependent on government, the more power the socialists have.

    Like the cynical comment by @JuanValdez shows, they despise entrepreneurship and entrepreneurs. It's all about big government, never about individual liberties.

    Lol it's an effing pizza oven. I sincerely doubt these things that have been around for 100 years are polluting the neighborhood or affecting the air quality to any significant degree.
