I actually paused the replaying of the press conference right on that part and measured with my fingers between the top of the screen to the top of Whitmores head and compared it to the top of Thompson's head. They were exactly the same and that's with Thompson's head slightly tilted up which brought his eye level about 1" above Whitmore's. I think they're both 6'7" in shoes with Whitmore having a bit more growth time to add an inch or more based on his younger age (still just 18). Whitmore could end up 6'8" to 6'9" if he continues to grow the next two years.
Oh yeah, it can happen. When Sengun came into the league he was under 7 and is now way over... Amen was the best player in this draft but Cam was the steal for sure....
That Amen interview is awesome. A few great lines by Amen in it. The one where they ask if he's made a special purchase yet, and he says "nah, not yet". They ask him if he's got anything planned to purchase and he says "PS5". "Oh yeah, because your brother's taking the PS5. So what are you taking from him?" "We're taking his heart this year." You can tell he's a bright kid. Hopefully he has game.
Maybe I’m reading too much into this but did anyone else catch the “it’s mostly been good” when Rafel was asked about working with Ime? It seemed like there might be something under the surface. Not sure what the reference to “taking the gloves off” means. Doesn’t sound like things have been perfect behind the scenes. I suspect ime understands that it’s on him to win and he’s not gonna stay silent about the pieces he needs to do that…which cuts into Stone’s lane.
What questions would you want them to ask 18-19 year olds who just became professionals? Why are you not going to be a bust?
sounds like Ime won't just roll over and let Rafel do the coaching. And that's why they hired Ime . . . he has a spine
Depends on who you believe. Tari said Sengun is a 7 footer now and rumor has it that he's outgrown Wemby.
I imagine the other part of the conference where Ben asked him about playing time and he said "talk to the coach don't talk to me" was also about that. Ime probably let him know early on that he is not to encroach on who he plays and when. It's up to him to get the pieces and Ime to make them work.
Whoa, Amen is legitimately really funny in the radio interview when he loosens up a little. I don’t know if he’s the best athlete in the league day 1, but I think he might be the best interview.
