I actually agree with you, with the caveat that there's also absolutely nothing wrong with Sengun being to Green what Pau was to Kobe (and I'm not making comparisons on the players there either, despite the similarities.) The hierarchy is far from set in stone, and either way works out great for us.

They could just end up being equal level players.

Is anyone saying that one of Sabonis or Fox is clearly the best player? They are seen in similar levels in player rankings.

So if Sengun is expected to be the "franchise player" (or any other player only faction) then everyone who's been pushing that narrative will not get offended when others point out where he comes up short along the way right? Same fashion if Sengun turns into Jokic as some are comfortably assuming then there wont be any disconnect and anyone who continues to be a "doubter" should just be instantly perma banned -- Win/Win! Im envious of the guys who have thrust their collective asses right out of the window with this type of fandom it takes some nuts living in the Receipts Era of ClutchFans.

Honestly I don't see really anyone hating on Sengun. I feel like he has less haters than any other Rocket and even people being negative are in the context of whether he's a star player or not. If anything the divide comes from people who are unsure about his future and people who think this team needs to be built around him like Jokic. The bar for "building a team around you" is really not much lower than franchise player. Even if Sengun put up 20/10/5 last year on similar shooting I still wouldn't just ask the Rockets to build around him.

Yes @CXbby, essentially you are calling people lowering the bar from "he is THE franchise player" to "hey there is more than one player on this team that can reach that in tandem with Sengun" as an attack.

The attack is basically disagreeing that Sengun is THE FRANCHISE. That's kinda absurd no?

    1) Your analogy would work if the Rockets were discussing bringing in Bam Adebayo or Domantas Sabonis.
Sengun fanatics are fretting about Brook Lopez.

    2) If the Rockets were in position to draft a generational shooting guard (Kobe, MJ, etc) you best believe I'd be all for it and let Jalen get in where he fits in.
Unfortunately a large portion of Sengunatics don't hold the same "team first" position when it comes to supplanting Sengun.

Always thought you felt this way, but thanks for confirming your feeling that Jalen is a "lesser player" compared to Sengun. Definitely puts your posts in the right context for me.

I notice that you are high on Ime, so curious as to what the narrative will be if a center is brought in and they start over Sengun (again). Personally I don't care who starts as it's about what is best for the team. If say Khris Middleton is brought in and starts over Jalen, I'm cool because I'm not too heavily invested in player over team.

If the Rockets sign Brook Lopez he should start, because he is the better player (right now) and does what the Rockets need better than Sengun. Defend the paint and space the floor.

I know you can't say the same because you think Sengun already is a franchise player.... If I wasn't sure before, that "lesser players" comments confirms for me that you are delusional when it comes to Sengun.

Sengun is the Trump of Clutchfans, you either love him or become completely and totally obsessed with hating him. And if you're asked for specific reasons why, it's because of those damn MAGAS! (SOFs).

I don't think so. I think most people think of Sengun the same way they think of others on the team - Jalen, Jabari, KPJ, Tari, etc:

They're all pretty good. They're all flawed. None of them have shown they are going to be the guy for us yet, but hopefully at least one of them will.

That's the most likely outcome tbh.

It's not a feeling, it's based on data. Green got more minutes, shot more often and therefore scored more points. That's quite literally the only thing he is better at than Sengun, at this point. Edit: He is also a better free-throw shooter. 3-point percentage is basically the same.

I like Green, and I think he has the potential to become the leading scorer in the freaking league. He is a scorer. Sengun is the better all-around player.

I would be upset about that. It comes down to what we are trying to solve for. I just don't see the point of stunting the development of one of our young core players, just for some short-term success - unless we were to believe that the older player we would prioritize actually puts us over the hump to contend for a title in the very season this is done - and neither Khris Middleton nor Brook Lopez do that, not even close. So I would argue starting Middleton over Green would be just as dumb as starting Lopez over Sengun.

Nothing there to back it up, just your opinion. Sengun will be the better player in 2023-2024.

Let's see how it plays out.

Green can put up more shots because he's capable of putting up more shots. It takes less work and less probabilistic outcomes to get Green a shot. He creates space from anywhere in the halfcourt and defenders actually guard him everywhere in the halfcourt

There is a reason big men always are more efficient. It's because their range is limited and they only take shots near the rim.

That would be great, because then Jalen Green would become extremely good (eventually).

Green's FG % is unfortunately quite awful for a shooting guard. I hope he can improve significantly on that next season.

Sengun is the Sengun of clutchfans.

A guy just about everyone likes and thinks highly of, and a few Beta Males who rapid fire Sengun Worship purity tests, and then whine and cry, when people choose to take a more measured stance.

Any "hater" is probably just an objective fan, who is tired of having to listen to the bemoaning of these loser weirdos, and starts a trolling campaign to get back at them.
