Former federal judge Michael Luttig took to the pages of the New York Times Sunday to slam Republicans for their “spineless support” of former President Trump and to lament that the GOP have “convinced Mr. Trump of his political immortality.”

“The stewards of the Republican Party have become so inured to their putative leader, they have managed to convince themselves that an indicted and perhaps even convicted Donald Trump is their party’s best hope for the future,” Luttig wrote.

“If the indictment of Mr. Trump on Espionage Act charges — not to mention his now almost certain indictment for conspiring to obstruct Congress from certifying Mr. Biden as the president on Jan. 6 — fails to shake the Republican Party from its moribund political senses, then it is beyond saving itself. Nor ought it be saved,” he wrote.

That should get Trump tweeting a bunch of nasty stuff. Judge Luttig will be Trump and his loyalists' next target.

That's a flat out lie, but lying is what Trump does best.
I would guess he has a lot of followers that don't know history, and believe that crap.

Luttig was noted as a conservative legal commentator but has been critical of Trump going back to the first impeachment. He was one of the few to point out that what Trump did in his call to Zelensky was grounds for impeachment on Fox News.

You can be conservative and not support some lying narcissistic psychopath, even if most of those who call themselves conservatives are loyal to that criminal, no matter what.

I would say that actually makes someone more
Conservative to support things like Constitutional norms and rule of law.

It used to before Trump. Laws went out the window with him, unless they pertained to someone he didn't like, who he wanted locked up.

A number of true conservatives have been highly critical of trump. Unfortunately, trump supporters have largely moved away from the republican party and only seem to continue to hold onto social conservative principles (and even then, extremist and bastardized versions of social conservatism). If they have their way, America will go backwards in many ways. Hopefully the pendulum will swing back.

So much to break down in this crazy rant... first, ducking debates (gee, weren't republicans just criticizing Biden for this?). Second, reference to the made up "Man of the Year" award? LOL. and last, attacking fox news. So funny...
