Name 5 Centers in the history of basketball that can make passes out of more zones than Alperen Sengun.

Now, you are telling me that Brad Miller and Chuck Hayes can be elite high-post players that can make the plays we speak of, but Alperen Sengun was "the issue" with Stephen Silas running a high-post offense? Give me a break! :D

Statistical analysis is only a fraction of the pie, and those stats should include the context in which they were pulled.

"The issue right now is that Sengun isn't really effective out of the high post at all."

That is not the issue that kept Silas from attempting to run offense out of the high post. Rick Adelman didn't need two years to get Yao/Miller/Webber/Vlade to learn how to play out of a Princeton, he needed two years to get his GUARDS/FORWARDS to learn to move off the ball properly for precious spacing. For Princeton, life is MUCH more difficult for the guards, especially AAU-grown players like that KPJ/Josh/JG that haven't a clue how to move off-ball because they are a few months out of the AAU circuit.

Additionally, running offense out of the high post was something that was incredibly rare for "5-out" Silas to do, and usually only happened when the team was devastated by injuries and didn't want to play 100% through Daishen Nix. Silas greatly preferred to hit Sengun as a roller, and when our bigs did get the ball at the high post, the rest of the team was clueless. They don't teach that stuff down in RGV, and apparently, Stephen Silas doesn't either.

TLDR: Stats need context. Rick Adelman's massive Princeton woody would be a sight to behold If he ever got his hands on Alperen Sengun. Rick Adelman's once massive Princeton woody would shrink like a beggar in the cold If he realized that he needed to teach KPJ, 20-year-old JG, Josh Christopher, and Daishen Nix to function in such a system.

It's almost like he has been in the league 7 years longer than Sengun, crazy huh? Compare their numbers around the same age, rather similar. Will Sengun become MVP Jokic? Probably not, but he can be All-Star Jokic imo.

I don’t disagree that Jokic has more experience. I disagree with you calling Jokic a prototype as that means Sengun is copied or developed from Jokic. You don’t end up with a much shittier product when developing or copying from a prototype. If you want to talk prototypes that was the original Sabonis. Jokic is the final product of that archetype and it remains to be seen if Sengun can become comparable or a knockoff.

Jake Valanciunas looked like Wilt Chamberlain with Sengun guarding him. This had nothing to do with our guards

Sengun will surpass Sabonis. I don't think he will surpass Jokic, but he can be a quality comparable player, once again all-star. I think he will do it here with the Rockets. Time will tell, but already people like you are moving goal posts after only 2 years, it's hilarious to watch. I'll be fun to watch as people like you keep on having to come up with new excuses.

I have never moved the goalposts. My criticism and doubts of Sengun have been the same since day one, so you must be confusing me with someone. My responses to Sengun and Jokic have also been the same even before Jokic won a ring; Sengun is not Jokic, not even close.

Jokic currently is playing at a top 3-5 all time level. You really think sengun can peak as a top 3-5 player ever?

70% of Nikola Jokic is an all star level player, if not fringe 3rd team all NBA.

He plays quite a bit like Nikola, even if he lacks the body to fully imitate him, not unlike how Trae Young modeled his game around James Harden with Atlanta to mixed results.

What sword is that? Come on, be more specific so we will know what to potentially laugh at later? That I say Sengun's middling physique as a big will pose challenges to his possible ascent to stardom? That Sengun needs to develop some sort of reliable range or become historically elite in the post to become a superstar? That questionably defensive centers are much harder to build championship contending teams around? That Sengun is not even remotely close to Jokic right now and that we whould be letting him write his own future?

Ya i don’t really value the “poor mans” version of superstars because of the way the cap and salary works. Trae makes the same as steph, but the dollar store steph isn’t gonna be good enough. Same will happen when sabonis gets paid. I wouldn’t max out dollar store jokic (sabonis)

Jalen Green is never going to be Kobe. Amen is never going to be Penny Hardaway. Jabari is never going to be Dirk.

Why is it that Sengun is the only one being held to an impossible standard? An allstar is not good enough? Houston would be lucky to have one because no one else on the roster is currently even close.

All Star spots are in high demand...... I think All Star reserve caliber would be more spot on.

Sabonis is a 3 time allstar. It is pretty clear that Sengun is on a projection that will surpass Sabonis in every facet of the game. Whatever you want to call that, Rockets fans should cherish it instead of always thinking the grass is greener, because the day Sengun is on the other side he is eating this roster for food.

Because you need a Kobe, Penny, or Dirk level player to compete for titles.

Right. So since we don't have any of those as the worst team in the NBA, get rid of everyone?
