This. Bagwell was never the acting GM, but he definitely had some influence, and Crane himself even said that Bagwell was one of the people who had a voice. And then Bagwell made his "this game is played by humans, not computers" comments. Montero did have a great 2022, but the fact that relief pitching is very volatile, Montero had only one good season in a contract year, we had a lot of bullpen depth, and he started to slow down late in the season should have all been considered.
