Texas Gov. Greg Abbott ordered state officials in February to start investigating if certain treatments for transgender youth like hormones and puberty-suppressing drugs constitute child abuse. The decision overturns a lower court's injunction from Mar. 11 that found Texas Gov. Greg Abbott's policy was "beyond the scope of his authority and unconstitutional." Some Texas families with transgender children are considering moving outside of the state as a result of "the threat of these investigations." Left-rated outlets were more likely to describe gender-affirming care as "medically necessary" and "evidence-based care." They also emphasized data that highlighted how thousands of transgender youth across the country are facing "restricted access" that has impacted their mental health. Conversely, right-rated outlets were more likely to highlight the court ruling in a positive light and include quotes from Abbott where he claimed gender reassignment surgery creates a "genuine threat of substantial harm from physical injury."

Abbot is shipping legal immigrants and asylum seekers. The immigrants being shipped aren't here illegally and have broken no laws.

DeSantis may have just assumed they were using asylum seeking as an excuse. Illegal immigrants that aren't seeking asylum can simply be deported from the country. Or was trying to make it sound like what he was doing isn't as idiotic as what it is. He called them "illegal" but never clarified their legal status. Of course most asylum seekers are denied asylum, but it is legal to apply. What would truly help is to hire more personal and judges to hear their cases and process them more efficiently. Then the asylum seekers won't be in the nation for the 5-6 years it takes. That is due to a backlog. The procedure is that they should have a decision within 180 days of the petition unless there special circumstances. However, Republicans have cut back the personnel and rejected proposals for more funding for personnel to process the asylum seekers.
