I hate the word panic. No one is panicking. No one has ever panicked here (how do you panic with a keyboard?). But it sure seems time to make some adjustments.
**** this forum rooting for Astros WC standings (I thought the "Rangers need to sweep the Yankees" posts were especially dumb) We need to be rooting for about 10 teams to just crater and fall out of the WC race in the next few weeks, make the trade market more robust.
Just looked it up for s**ts and giggles: Stros are 56-36 in the postseason since 2015 (.609, 99/162) That's pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty good.
Same line of thought when Altuve was out, keep a few games over .500 until he gets back. Now it's stay 8 games over .500 until Yordan gets back and the bullpen gets their ish together.
I dunno, but there's 85 games left to find out. A lot can happen between now and then....maybe good, maybe bad
The simple argument would be that the Rangers have lots of people playing above their historical norms and are basically as healthy as they are going to get. They signed 3 McCullers-level-injury-prone SPs; 1 is out for the season; the other 2 have managed to stay healthy so far but are already approaching inning-pitched levels they often top out around. They also are 7-10 in their last 17 games. The Astros, on the other hand, have pretty much everyone playing below expectations and have 3 potential bullets of varying value coming back hopefully (Yordan, Urquidy, and Brantley). And are only 6 games back with 3 months to go and haven't really lost any ground on the Rangers despite the last few weeks of collapses, implosions, etc.
Some of yall are the kind of people who saw a Richard Justice Tombstone on the front page of the Chronicle and said...."yep, sounds about right, it's over" Some of yall are the other kind of people.
Might not have lost much ground to the Rangers But 6-13 our last 19 games and Dusty sits two of yesterdays hottest hitters as he has done multiple times It don’t add up Don’t forget last year when Judge was the only yank who could hit us and we kept pitching to him Dusty’s response was “it’s good for baseball” He must think he has a higher calling than winning games for the Astros
Judge batted 0.148 with a 0.628 OPS against the Astros last year... He also went 1-for-16 in the postseason against the Astros. Astros won 9 of their 11 games against the Yankees last year between regular and postseason. Dusty 1, The Beard 0 on that particular strategy.
OH **** GODDAMMIT I CANNOT LISTEN TO EDUARDO PEREZ. He is literally the worst booth announcer in MLB, and I've listened to all of them.
Yep, feels like 2016 all over again. Complete with the chance for us to flush it and be awesome again the next year just like we did when we won it all in 2017. That doesn’t mean the story is written and over, that’s just how it feels with every crushing loss that comes down the pike.
