I’m a boomer and I have patience for the re-build. Don’t equate Boomers to pessimists. SF and BTG and quite a few others are either full blown pessimists or trolls.

Dude you are making a lot of assumptions. Grant Williams is not a starter lol. Why are you assuming that he won’t accept a bench role? He made 4 mil last year. He isn’t exceptionally good in anything but shooting 3’s. Caruso took a 9 mil a year deal a few years ago and accepted a bench role. Certain players accept bench roles but the end game is still the dollars and whether teams are paying them their projected market value. Grant and a lot of players are asking high while others are opting out likely due to the new CBA raising the cap level. It’s a negotiation tactic. But again, why are you assuming that Amen is a SF? To me if the Rockets offer something higher than the mid level 14-16 mil they can get Grant. Boston may not want to pay that considering they are trying to extend Porzingis to a max contract. Considering Udoka connections and the money, it’s not unreasonable to think there’s a possibility Grant may sign here.

Reports are saying Grant may go since they are extending Porzingis. They don’t have money and reports said Boston tried to sign and trade him to Dallas.

Sign and trade of Grant and Horford to save salary for Boston:

In Grant Williams 4 yrs 80m
    Horford 2 years/20m

Boston in: Nets 2024 frp lottery protected.

I’m interested in what market value Lopez has. I can’t imagine his services to be desirable at 35 as a big man even though he can still play and considering his price has gone up. Maybe contender’s looking for a big would do a sign and trade or rent him for a couple of years? I really can’t see him go anywhere with the Bucks. As we saw with Noels Nerlens and Schroeder a few years back there may not be a market for serviceable players in the league.

I partially agree. I was a fan of rebuilding via losing briefly as factually there are only 3 ways to obtain talent in sports. My personal preference always made 2022 the last tank year. And the fact that we tanked that long partially means our tank failed on the first two drafts.

However at this point it's time for the drafted players to step up and the owner and GM to provide a coaching staff at NBA par (done) and round out the roster so the correct players are getting the ideal amount of playing time with teammates specializing at the correct positions (NOT done).

WARNING: there is an incredibly high risk that one or all of Jalen, Jabari and Amen just aren't cut out to be NBA stars and we find ourselves losing for more years until we move on / restart.

Why would you think the tank failed with the first two drafts unless you think failing is anything short of drafting 19 year olds ready to make major winning contributions which only happened 3 times in league history with Lebron, Luka and Zion ?

So a rebuild fails if we don't get short of that?

It sounds like you have a surface level understanding of what "process brain" actually is, and a drastically simplified idea of who employs it.

It's well established that truly accomplished professionals are capable of developing internal processes that rival even the best Process driven outcomes. Nobody finds these people morally reprehensible. In fact, a lot of money has been spent documenting how they do things in an effort to replicate across organizations.

You use a Process to prevent the people that believe they have a good eye test on talent, but actually don't, from abusing their influence. Think fans after we traded James Harden that thought we wouldn't suck, and that he was hurting our team. Those people, under no circumstances, should be allowed to make decisions that impact our franchise. A Process prevents that.

That doesn't mean we shouldn't pull a Morey in Boston, trade all of our acquired talent, ditch the process, and trade in our chips to win when the time is right.

We just haven't been bad that long. From a pure value perspective of our roster, we've been in the bottom 10 since Harden left. It's only after the last draft that we can actually make moves, and we can't turn cap space into value because we don't have a genius in the front office anymore.

What is wrong with Sam wanting to watch a good competitive team?

it isn’t fun to watch this **** we have been fed, and the empty seats each night says many more agree.

There is no guarantee all or any of our high picks will lead to wins.

nothing wrong with a guy wanting to see the team win.

    Respect Sam!

There is nothing wrong but the Rockets just selected a high ceiling but non shooter in Amen and the second youngest player after GG Jackson in the entire Draft.......

Crying to be 3 years from 3 years away.

I am betting they overachieve this season but not by much.

    Go figure!

Somewhere else the Heat are rubbing their hands picking up 25 year old undrafted players.

There are many ways to build a team, the draft is no longer the easiest way because they are drafting children who bust as often as hit. Whereas we used to draft players with 2-4 years of college ball or EU ball to be more proven, we now draft kids that play in crappy made up scrimmages like OTE or even the Gleague (lesser than college)......so drafting is more of a risk than it has ever been.

Then there is the playing time how the hell will 13 players under 23 get time to develop, don't expect either of the guys we just drafted to play much probably this entire year unless we have major turnover above them.

IME wants to win - and he has been tasked with it, he will play WHOMEVER he thinks is best - not anyone's favorite here, just pure unemotional who is the best.

    And, I welcome that.

The difference with Fisher is while I am also inclined to succumb to pessimism I try it with humor to get me through those days.

I am not trying to whine about those things no more, it is not worth it. The Rockets have other vision, may that vision come true via other channels.

You probably don’t remember that it took Jokic 4 years being in the league to reach the playoffs and an all-star nod. It took Booker 6 years to reach the playoffs and 5 years before he was an “all-star”. And it took Deaaron Fox 6 years to make the playoffs and an all star appearance. While Each teams circumstances are different, it still takes time to build a contender and develop players. Contenders just don’t grow overnight and it may take even longer as we would like. We may not see the Rockets reaching the playoffs until Greens year 5. It’s a possibility and depends on what happens with our acquisitions.

And what do you consider a “star” is in this league? Do you have to be voted in officially to be a star? These players just mentioned have played at a high level and grinded their entire careers and people knew what they were about before the official all star nod. People know what Green is about and what he brings. It’s a matter of time for him to be voted in just as those aforementioned. Time. Development. Acquisitions. Patience.

I doubt that SF is a boomer, I'd guess he's at least ten years late for that bus, maybe twenty years even

I don’t understand the belief that Stars or teams just instantly become dominant once they enter the league or even after 2 years. This tells me people haven’t been watching these other players or teams closely since their rookie years. They didn’t remember Booker not being as good from long range his first couple of years or how Fox’ mid range game wasn’t as sweet. They didn’t see the struggles and pain of losing and instead look at the present day records and assume that these players have always been dominant. What we don’t see is the long road and hard work and toil mentally and physically these players go through to get where they are. Nothing is handed or given. And history has shown this.

where I differ with OP is, I don’t mind a “process" that is based on accountability and competitiveness. I don’t mind losing if I see the kids play the right way, put-in effort and compete. What I hate is lollygagging on the court without consequences, for the sake of development and "getting reps". That’s infuriating me.

I think Udoka should use a long rotation with frequent yanking out for listless play. I remember years ago Hubble Braown was coaching a young Grizzlies team that way, playing 11-man rotation. I think this is probably the way to go for now.

Look I hope you are right....just don't think many of the concensus players wanted by this board will come here.

Hold the water and towels for Sengun, Jalen Green, Jabari and now Amen.

    I wouldn't.

Let's see how it turns out. Sacramento and Clippers had bukko bucks many years and couldn't entice players to go there.

Even the Lakers before LeBron had trouble even though they had money.

I agree with a win-now philosophy, but let’s do it with internal growth from our playmakers. The vets we bring in should be able to play off-ball.

James Harden will get in Amen Thompson’s way, and limit the heights our new point guard can reach. All for what, another playoff choke by the bearded one?

Let the kids cook. Udoka is here to guide them.
