LOL Morey high as a kite Spoiler https://www.inquirer.com/sports/sixers-trade-rumors-tobias-harris-20230624.html The Phoenix Suns, Utah Jazz, and Dallas Mavericks joined the previously mentioned Cleveland Cavaliers, Indiana Pacers, and Detroit Pistons as teams making inquiries about the 30-year-old’s availability, according to sources. A source said the Suns want Harris to play alongside Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal. And they want to acquire him before the start of free agency on June 30 because of possible second apron ramifications. The only thing is Phoenix would have to move Deandre Ayton. The Sixers have no interest in the 7-foot, 250-pounder with three years and $102 million left on his contract. The Sixers also don’t have any interest in any of the players the Suns would make available. So Phoenix wants the Sixers to get a third team involved to facilitate the deal, according to a source. However, the Sixers are unwilling to do so. The Pacers were interested in acquiring Harris during Thursday’s NBA draft. However, sources said they didn’t have enough assets to acquire him. That probably won’t change, as Harris is scheduled to make $39.2 million in 2023-24, the final season of the five-year, $180 million deal he signed in 2019. Last week, sources told The Inquirer the Sixers are overvaluing Harris and asking for “outrageous packages in return.” That goes in line with what a source said the Sixers told the Cavs what it would take days before the draft: A package of Jarrett Allen, Evan Mobley, and a draft pick. A source said Sixers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey “isn’t negotiating in good faith.” But the Sixers’ demands aren’t surprising. The reported deals go in line with their having no intention of trading Harris at this time. A move that drastically improves the team is the only thing that would budge them from their stance.
Hawks Have Mandate To Get Out Of Luxury Tax The Atlanta Hawks have committed a lot of long-term salary to a team that has been eliminated in the first round of the playoffs for the last two seasons. Now, Hawks ownership has given their new front office a mandate to get out of the luxury tax for the upcoming season. Atlanta is poised to hit free agency about $5.5 million into the tax. The Hawks only have one open roster spot to fill at the moment and will do so by signing first-round draft pick Kobe Bufkin. That will leave Atlanta a move, or two, shy of dipping under the tax line. Dejounte Murray is up for a new contract in the summer of 2024. Onyeka Okongwu and Saddiq Bey are both extension-eligible this summer. Re-signing even two of those three key rotation players would likely have the Hawks deep into the tax, unless they are able to shed some salary. For new Hawks GM Landry Fields, that process will apparently start with this offseason.
Capela to Rockets Tate to Clippers Gordon to Hawks We get a back up center, Hawks can waive Gordon and get immediate cap relief, Clippers get a serviceable role player.
typical "bad faith" sleazebag… Sociopath. In his mind he’s being rational and doing his job, completely unaware of the second-order effects of how destroying the spirit of mutual respect among colleagues would affect his franchise down the road. Midwit and a phony. Typical for business school grads.
They eliminated this loophole from the CBA. You have to guarantee the next year of a contract before trading them in the offseason. So, the Hawks would have to want Gordon more than Capela. But, I do generally agree with using Tate in these types of moves where we take on salary. I just don't see a world where Tate plays for this team.
