Amen needs to learn how to shoot the rock. This will limit his playing time. He also needs to learn how to run an NBA offense and play team defense. He made need some time in the G League, but traveling with the team and going through the NBA schedule might be best, so that he needs to work everyday with the shooting coach. Cam should earn his playing time. Silas would have thrown Cam in the deep end. I strongly suspect that Ime will bring Cam along slowly. Anyone here penciling Amen and Cam in the starting rotation is nutz, especially Amen who needs a whole lotta work just to see limited playing time. WRT who to keep and who to move, Amen and Cam should lightly impacted that decision. If Cam catches fire, the Rockets might move a SF at the trade deadline … but that is a best case scenario. The rest of the roster needs time with Ime to see who can work in his program and who can not. Someone like Garuba might develop nicely as a 3 and D rotation player. As far as the consensus keepers (I am looking at you Jalen Green), the Rockets might need a solid backup to soak up minutes while the starter ponders the value of getting back on D.
Boban wants new career as GM Green-He bouncing it Amen- He bouncing it KPj- He bouncing it, He bouncing it, he bouncing it, He bounce it again Edit: He bounce it again TyTy-He Bouncing it Jaygup-He bouncing it, He bounce it again Too many bouncings. Not enough Boban.
I read this and immediately thought, "Man what was the name of that one guy I was legitimately worried about getting rid of? I mean, tbf, he was pretty good." Turns out once I remembered it was Gary Clark...
Part of me would kinda like to just see Amen/Green/Cam/Jabari/Sengun as the starting lineup, damn the torpedoes and run. I'll bet that would be a helluva transition team. But it would be pretty ugly and I'll bet our win total would be in the 20s again and that's not the mission, so I fully expect Amen and Cam to come off the bench and there to be at least one veteran in the starting lineup at the beginning of the season.
You don’t need to regret Mason Jones, he’s unsigned right now and he’s a vet. I bet we could sign him for 5 years, 65 million dollar bucks.
This might be one of my favorite posts this year. People here fall too in love with scrubs. Armoni Brooks was another recent one and the TRIPLE DOUBLE MACHINE KHYRI THOMAS. Remember all the future core threads 2 years ago that had Thomas as a core untradable piece?? This is the NBA. These are all top 99th percentile athletes. Anybody can look good for 5 minutes on a random Tuesday when the opponent doesn't care. We have to stop getting so attached to these future nobody scrubs.
I don't think this is as big an issue as it's made out to be. You clear out the ones who are ready to contribute to winning teams (Tate, KJ) then you cut out the bottom feeders from the last couple years (Nix, Garuba) and focus on the guys you actually gave court and development time to: Green, KPJ, Sengun, Jabari, Tari. Stash the youngsters in the G league for reps whilst you decide whether Christopher and TyTy are worth keeping (somebody for both Green and KPJ to play against) and fill out the roster spots with a couple of vets. The roster is the easy bit right now, the bit that's actually important is whether Ime and a change in direction is enough to turn that bunch into a legitimate team with a structure, an actual offense and a hierarchy that makes sense based on the skills and direction taken.
Yep. I would say churning through guys does lead to a Robert Covington every now and then, and doesn't cost anything.
Nah DMo was an actual beast he doesn't deserve to get lumped in with the rest of those scrubs. I loved Kostas Papanikolau but I'd never argue that we couldn't trade him or whatever.
I don't think we jettison anyone until IME sees them in camp, and picks the best 8-9 to start the season. DD
Sengun- Keep JG - Keep Eason - Keep JSJ- Keep Amen- Keep Cam - Keep KPJ - Keep but listen to offers JC - Expendable Usman - Expendable Tate - Expendable KJM - Expendable

Left off TyTY..... Couldn't remember the 9 players we drafted in the first round in the last 3 drafts??!?!?
Clearly we need to consolidate, but fortunately we can do it over the off-season and mid season deadline. Unfortunately, there are going to be some unhappy Rockets players who are going to be getting very little to no playing team.
Not at all, but if he gets jettisoned and turns into an all star, this is what gets GM's fired. I am down with whatever Ime decides, are you? DD
We just hired a coach who got fired for stalking an execs wife after being told to stop banging her in his one season as a head coach. Bar is pretty low considering that and Silas hanging around as long as he did.
