Amen and Green are obviously our backcourt of the future, and Eason, Whitmore, and Jabari are our forwards of the future. We probably need another big to complement Sengun, as well as another PG so we don’t have to rush Amen, but we’re in a pretty darn good spot.
The Rockets are still desperate to sign a PG in FA. KPJ is clearly no longer an option for that role, he’s coming off the bench moving forward no way in hell is Amen starting with that broken shot, Rockets are actually trying to win games now FA PG/Amen Green/KPJ Eason or FA/Whitmore Bari/Eason or KJ (would look to trade him) Sengun/?
i actually wonder if whitmore has some real medical issue and will be able to participate in summer league
Personally I want to see Jalen and Amen because it's not every day that you can form the worst shooting backcourt in the league. Should be funny and help the Rockets keep their pick in the next draft where they can add another highly athletic player who can't shoot. It'll be an annual tradition.
Sengun shot 43% from 3 since January albeit on low volume (he was told to not shoot them). I think he will be just fine. I am hopeful Amen can develop a shot.
trick question. it's technically KPJ+Green but KPJ will play more like a 3 on offense now. We will have an "inverted backcourt". Defensively Amen will guard 3s, KPJ 2s, and Green 1s. Amen and KPJ actually fit really great together. KPJ/Green/Amen should be fun to watch for the next 5-7 years and I'm very excited to see the team grow together.
Positions are about who you can guard, assuming Amen hits, at 6’7 with a 7 foot wingspan he can guard any wings so it doesn’t really matter if Whitmore is a tweener.
Both guys measured 6'5.75 without shoes. (So 6'7 in shoes?). Both have the same standing reach at 8'7.5 - this despite Amen's superior wingspan (7' to 6'9). Whitmore projects as a SG or SF - he has the body and strength to play either. So not sure we have anything to worry about with him being a tweener.... Granted he 'only' shot 34%
