We knew Paxton was indicted when he won the last election. I'm pretty sure we did this to ourselves on purpose.

Yes I know that. I'm not in Texas anymore but I still consider myself a Texan. It's sad to see that how they can't vote out an indicted person running for top law enforcement officer or the man who even Lindsey Graham said no one likes in the US Senate.

We can make fun of Minnesota for being full of pasty white people who think ketchup is too spicy but I would take the current statewide leadership over Texas. I would even take Tim Pawlenty over Abbott any day.

Where are the other Texas voters? I understand winning the legislature is tough due to gerrymandering but statewide can't enough voters be mustered to say enough with the corruption, pettiness and vindictiveness of the current statewide leadership?

Kentucky is deeper red than Texas and they were able to kick out a corrupt Republican governor for a moderate Democrat. Houston, DFW, Austin-San Antonio are large population centers with dynamic economies. it baffles me that that there isn't a Democrat there with the experience and charisma to mount a serious challenge to Abbott, Paxton or Cruz.

Paxton has benefited mightily from at least $9.5m since 2020 from the dark-money Concord Fund, public records reveal.

The Concord Fund, the top donor in 2022 and the two prior years to the Republican Attorneys General Association (Raga), boasts strong links to Federalist Society co-chairman Leonard Leo. Leo helped Donald Trump pick three conservative supreme court justices and now helps spearhead a dark money network that has secured $1.6bn from a single donor.

now, how does a couple making ~$200,000 annual income save up enough to buy $3.5M in real estate? Maybe they used some of that dark money referenced above? And, they made the purchases after the investigations started?

Assuming the properties are financed and they're still paying mortgages and they've owned the same home for 20+ years and are frugal, it's pretty simple to build up to that level of real estate holdings. Keep in mind the perks you get from government jobs to offset spending.

Not saying that the Paxtons did it that way by any means, but it's entirely possible.

You mean buying 6 pieces of real estate in Hawaii and across the country in less than a year seems fishy? Hahah, look who we are talking about. Mr. Trump supporter and Big Lie spreader. Mr. Gerrymandering power hungry despicable adulterer. The man who wanted us to sacrifice our grandparents.

I have to agree. They report the OK property is being used as a short-term rental, which can presumably pay for or at least offset the mortgage expense. If all of these properties are being used for rental income and he had some nest egg money to start with, it seems attainable to me that someone with that level of income could finance these purchases without any dirty money. Doesn't mean he didn't use dirty money, just that it isn't the gotcha the paper might have been hoping for.

    In totally unsurprising news:

In May, moments after the Texas House voted to impeach state Attorney General Ken Paxton, his office released an "outside" report produced by a private law firm that asserted his innocence against some of the allegations levied against him.

What Paxton and his office did not say: The law firm that produced the report, Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith, has been paid more than $500,000 in public money to defend him against whistleblowers who sued the agency for wrongful termination because they went to the FBI with allegations of corruption.

The outside firm never interviewed Paxton or key agency leaders who attorneys acknowledged could have provided useful information. Nevertheless, findings from the 56-page report conclude that the firings were likely lawful.

Our Attorney General, the Trump backer who wasted taxpayer dollars running around the country with Ted Cruz trying to sue and claim election fraud to keep their man in office. Like Trump, they lack ethics and morals, and their greed and thirst for power drive them to bow to Trump's wishes. Greasy lawyers who persecute anyone and everyone except their own are never to be trusted in positions of power. Texans deserve better!

She seems to "stick by her man".........................there must be quite a bit of hidden assets she doesn't want to miss out on. I am so numb to the crap the gop does and then turns around and preached what great Christians they are and ya GOTTA PROTECT THE CHILDREN...................dude is scum to the highest degree but like trump the maga base wont care. the only way his ass gets ousted is if he is impeached and then he loses all his sweet deals and contacts.
