I'm glad they're trying to move into draft positions, I'm hoping they have a diamond in the rough mapped out.

If they manage to find a kid in there who will outwork, out-skill, out-do some rotation players, that'll be better than any big free agent signing for me.

I don’t know man I’m a little suspicious about why they want #10. I don’t think they want two young guys. There’s already a lot of youth on the roster for a team trying to make the playoffs.

Feeling like we might send #4, #10ish pick and two of Christopher/Garuba/KJ/Tyty to acquire Scoot and a bad contract.

With CHA that has to be Hayward or Rozier. Might be worth it if you get your PG for the next 10+ years.

I'm guessing we would also take on a bad contract from the Mavs (Bertans, Hardaway, etc.).

If the Rockets can't move up, they are stuck with two young guys anyway because the #20 is also a guaranteed contract. Our roster is filled with young players we're not really committed to. Why not explore trade up options while clearing the logjam? I don't know what it would take to get the #10, but no one would cry over losing KMJ, Tate, Christopher, Tyty, or Garuba if we're getting another lottery pick. I would be upset if we gave up a future pick though.

    We are currently drafting 420 (4 + 20).

Can we afford to not puff puff pass?

Yeah but I think we can also give them a BKN pick plus a young player that might fit around Luka/Kyrie.

Maybe send Tate the other way to preserve a little more cap space.

If it means we come out of the draft with:

    Sengun
    Jabari
    Eason
    Green
    Henderson

plus a max cap slot (minimum), no bad long term contracts and a few future picks…

That’s worth a LOT to me. Really special core with very little risk in my opinion.

I don’t think they’re keeping the #20 unless someone falls really far in the draft maybe.

I don’t believe it’s time to get rid of a bunch of our young guys in favor of a #20 pick. Would rather give all of them another try, even KPJ.

Maybe if it was higher like #10 I’d be more on board but at #20 I’d rather convert that to a future pick that has at least a small chance of being better.

If we were to trade player A plus #20 to move up to #10 this late in the game, would we be allowed to use #10 to move up more without player A passing a physical? Seems like a lot of moving parts and not much time.

Translation: Houston, if you want to swap for #10, give us Sengun. Your current offers of Garuba + (one of Tate/KMJ/JC) or Garuba + that + future considerations is not enough.

If that's the case, Cuban can pound sand. We're not the desperate ones here.

Could be that or it could be a short evening.
So hard to predict these things.

Cuban is an arrogant ass whose actions over the the years have f**ked the Mavericks. So NOW he wants to get a center especially after he and Kidd were strutting around boasting about how the Mavs play "positionless" basketball. Yeah, good luck with that Mark.

Lively will likely be available at #10. That's his natural fallback and not a bad one.
