Duncan was one of the only people who wasn't sold on Jabari and understood his limited athleticism. He was spot on.

    ND on Amen Thompson:
There's a greater than 50% chance that his shooting doesn't get better, but he has a reasonably high chance of being a bigger version of 2021 Russell Westbrook.

Not exactly a ringing endorsement LOL.

A coin flip whether or not a guy you draft in the top 5 during the Three Point Era is ever going to be a serviceable shooter? YIKES!

I mean...everybody on this website knows I despise Westbrook....

    But....

If you told me Amen was a 22/12/11 player but actually tries on defense and plays even remotely smarter? Who would not want that?

Yup. His limited ability to dribble and create and his pull-up-on-drives shot selection that wouldn't translate. I remember quoting that scouting report a few times. He was always a longer term project than his fans were hoping.

All that matters to me is that the Rockets get the best player remaining after striking out two years in a row.

Do you have an idea who that is or are you saying that will be measured retroactively?

Hopefully Rokman is actually Shams Charania in disguise

PGs are the most common commodity in the NBA. Only 2 star PG led teams have won a ring in the entire history of the modern NBA. Scoot being 6'2 and already having various injuries shows he'll have an injury plagued career.

    Personally I wouldn't sweat it.

Right. But "fine" players are available via free agency every year. You don't waste a #4 pick in a strong draft on "fine."

So YOLO it is. Welcome to the Rockets, Amen!

Yeah seems like the main thing Whitmore has going for him is his age. Definitely some major question marks with him. I am sold on Miller or Amen Thompson in that order. Miller the safer pick but definitely has some questions on if he can finish in the paint since he is limited athletically. Amen definitely highest upside but will need to at least be a passable shooter and hopefully his athleticism, playmaking and defense translate to the NBA.

Honestly I don't think this opinion could be any more reductionist. Good PGs are rare, and every championship team has a guard who can initiate offense adaptively and intelligently.

Almost every team has a good pg.

Ya russ was a horrific defender and extremely lazy. If amen is a good defender who actually gives a crap that’s a pretty excellent player

Him and Hollinger both had Paolo at #2. Duncan had Sharpe #1 and Hollinger had Jabari, though noted issues with athleticism as well. Not completely sure that’s a win for Duncan at this moment in time.

Hollinger was also higher on Mobley, Barnes, and Sengun coming into the draft than pretty much anyone else, I believe including Duncan.

I think both guys are better than the average draftnik but have their hits and misses like everyone.

Duncan had Paolo #1. Had Jabari about 5-6. But ya he had Sharpe well above others in his Top 3.

As long as he doesn't shoot elbow bank shots I would be good with that.

Drafting someone who can't shoot, does not make sense from any perspective. The game is still about scoring. I want Scoot, but the Rockets likely won't trade up. I have mixed feelings about Miller because of off court issues.
