[COOL STORY]Got to meet him last summer when he played a show at my friend's venue. Super nice guy. Definitely is not the person he was when he first got big anymore. He was really only concerned with getting baked after the show.

Pretty idiotic tweet. The person was talking about inspiring younger folks to take up the career and keep the industry going.

There is no evidence 50 year old white guys would have kept the voyage free of incident.

    Do better.

That makes the point I brought up earlier that
Corporate wokeness has little to do with whether for profit corporations really believe in it or whether they see it as good marketing.

It’s more ironic why the party of “free market” wants to go after these corporations.

Also these ad campaigns aren't for leftists. They are for upper middle class suburban liberals/moderates.

Leftists have b****ed about corporate "wokeism" well before the right wing has and for the right reasons

I’ve heard from LGBTQ activists who are critical of Target, Delta and other large corporations sponsoring PRIDE. Many in the movement especially those who were active back when corporations anted nothing to do with PRIDE or were even hostile to LGBTQ have felt that PRIDE has been used as a cover for corporations to virtue signal and make more money while not actually doing much for LGBTQ. There is even a term for this, “Rainbow Washing”
    https://www.diligent.com/insights/esg/rainbow-washing/

That such a term exists though goes to a larger point. The Right has pretty much lost the Culture War.

Recent moves against “wokeness” complaining about things like Black Mermaids or trans influencers selling light beer miss the point that these companies wouldn’t do that unless they thought it would be profitable. That companies believe that upper middle class suburbanites are likely to buy a product that is “woke” shows that the culture war has been largely lost in the free market.

Good point. It's hard to win a war against the OMG—an extremely hideous and dangerously sexy Green M&M, along with Mickey Mouse and beer.

The other aspect is that companies recognize what brings them value. They desire diverse thinking, backgrounds, and a friendly working environment in return for creativity and productivity. Therefore, many companies, including Fox News, have policies against hate and intimidation and in favor of promoting diverse backgrounds and allowing individuals to identify themselves however they choose. Scary stuff indeed.

I actually agree with some of our Right leaning posters that many of the corporate moves are pandering and frankly silly. I still know very little about Dylan Mulvaney and the idea of a "trans influencer" seems frivolous to me. That said an ad executive somewhere thought this would be a good idea and an executive at the World's largest alcoholic beverage company thought it was a good idea.

Corporate wokeness is actually the Invisible Hand at work. The US Government, Minnnesota government or even city of Minneapolis didn't tell all these companies to sponsor PRIDE.

The families that founded and / or majority owners of several of these companies are major donors to both national and state Republican party. I'm a shareholder in some of these companies, customer and and have also done architectural work for some of them. I have friends and families who are executives in some of these companies. They are interested in the bottomline and if they can save or make more money by cutting back on customer service, buying back stock, or value engineering construction projects they will. That they feel it's worth it to spend money sponsoring Twin Cities Pride and advertizing it isn't because they were forced into it by a Socialist Leftist Authoritarian government or even guilted into it by Wokies gluing themselves to the floor of Target Center. They did it because they came to the conclusion that the consumer market is more interested in things like DEI than those who complain about it.
