random ass trade idea Portland sends Lillard to Miami for 2027 and 2029 unprotected 1sts as well as 2028 1st rd swap rights. Miami sends Lowry and Oladipo to Houston for Salary matching needs. Portland sends Houston #23 for taking on the salary commitments. Houston sends #20, #23 and KJM to Dallas for #10 and Bullock. Houston drafts Amen Thompson at #4 and Derrick Lively at #10 Kpj/Amen/Lowry Green/Jaygup/Oladipo Tate/Tari/Bullock Jabari/Usman Sengun/Lively All 3 vets acquired would be roughly 50m expiring next year. Still leaves us about 15m to spend in free agency this year but keeps us flexible to refocus on next years FA class.
Rockets have 66m to spend, if they trade #20, jumps to 69m, waiving Nix takes them to 70m. If Harden is off the board, Rockets will have a tough time finding players to spend money on.
Pay guys ridiculous sums of money to take shorter deals. Promise to trade them to a contender in a year and a half. Money now is better than money later, right? Brook Lopez 2 years/$60M Fred VanVleet 2 years/$84M Done and done.
I get it but it doesn't fall in line with getting a veteran starter or two. Lowry isn't what he used to be and Oladipo just tore his knee up again. All indications have the Rockets landing a star FA.
Trade #20 to Wizards for CP3 (as a rental for 60% of the season) just to have a true point guard that can bring leadership and discipline to the young guys Trade CP3 at Trade deadline for a 1st in next year's draft or a couple #2s and salary fillers that expire Maybe with new coaching staff and CP3 as a floor general these young guys can be better disciplined
Blazers trade 3 for Tate & 4 Raptors trade Pascal for Amen at 4 & Simons Rockets trade 20, tyty and future 1st to ATL Take Scoot at 3 Take Lively at 15 Strus & Cam in FA? Scoot/KPJ Green/Strus/Gup Eason/Cam Jabari/KMJ Sengun//Lively/Garuba
get rid of useless deadweight like Tate, Chips, Garuba, TyTy, and JGuppy…I’d rather have the extra cap space
lol that’s who Chips is there’s zero excuses to still have him on the roster next season…he shouldn’t even be within a 1000 mile radius of an NBA team
Outside Tate, they are all rookie level guys, who, if removed, get offset by a roster charge. Giving away all four of them would barely net 2m in cap room. Not sure why we need to clear cap room, as we have 66m and its unclear who is even worth that. What grand scheme are we planning here?
KPJ & Tate salary dump. Could even attach future picks. I'm assuming they want to keep core 4, add 1-2 max guys on short deals, utilize MLE and keep the #4 pick. Depending on who we add, progression of core... would lean towards a playoff berth.
They are more for trades. We aren't going to be able to pay all 4 rookies from the 2021 draft, much less the 7 rookie scale contracts we currently have. Using some/all in a trade package for upgrade(s) and/or future picks seem prudent. We need to start pruning the roster.
i believe it's non guranteed after this season. He's still $1.8 guaranteed for this coming year. At least that's what i saw per Bima
