We have the Dodgers coming up and of course the Rangers. Rangers have the Yankees and Red Sox. It would be nice if the Astros could make a real soon. The deadline is 8-1-23, but the Astros could use at least a solid reliever and an adequate starter in the next week or so. I don't think it will happen though

It is going to happen. He hasn't really hit a dominant streak yet either. I am more concerned with the bullpen. We are going to them too early - too often - and they are not good enough. Right now we have 4 pitchers in the pen that should be replaced based on performance.
Hopefully we get our zero runs after 10 runs game out of the way tomorrow. 2 inning intrasquad game in LA.
To your point of going to the pen too early too often, there’s something to be said for no longer having a Cy Young rock like Verlander in the rotation granted his age made a resigning risky. Covers up other warts. For this reason, I might actually be more focused on a dominant top of rotation starter though I don’t believe any Castillo-types are going to be available at this trade deadline
