If you go to Fanspro it shows the picks they have available. Your argument is with them. And the trade was meant as a facsimile thereof....not detailed factual Merely showing how little the Rockets have to give up to help facilitate a trade between the Suns and Mavs. Mavs are rumored to want Ayton (google it) and the Suns don't mind trading Ayton (shopping him). Kenyon is worth a mid first and later in my opinion Tate is worth a late first to 2 second rounders. Ayton is better than Gobert....but not getting Gobert deal. Not enough to get Houston involved for just pick #10....but possible.
Iko • One interesting wrinkle to Houston’s interest is the prospect of moving up from the No. 20 pick. Again, conversations up to this point are mainly conceptual, but there have been discussions about potentially moving up from 20 to a range anywhere from the Miami Heat at No. 18 to the Dallas Mavericks at No. 10, sources say. Some iterations have involved the Rockets adding draft compensation while others have involved their own players or the idea of taking on bad salary. Ideally, Houston wants to preserve their nearly $60 million in cap space for free agency but given the abundance of financial flexibility, they could take on a bad contract if the upside of moving up was deemed worth it. On the flip side, if Houston stays put and the players they like are off the board by the time their pick comes around, they would be more open to trading the selection altogether, sources say. • In talks with teams, the Rockets have maintained their stance that they aren’t looking to trade anyone from their core — including top-five picks in Jalen Green and Jabari Smith Jr. and lottery picks Alperen Şengün and Tari Eason. Elsewhere, there has been interest in 22-year-old forward Kenyon Martin Jr., sources say, with his combination of age and upside still intriguing to rival NBA teams and deemed attainable internally for the right price.
We need only one PG. The other pick should be used for another position. Dick, Lively, Wallace could all be available. If the Rockets can get Hendricks at 10, I will be very happy.
Like i said before, the Rockets actually don't have any of the types of palyers Dallas needs except maybe Tate, but he's probably too much of a non-shooter. KPJ as a catch & shoot guy off Luka would be interesting - in many ways the ideal of the "KPJ as 6th man" theory that we love around here- but, you know, the whole KPJ factor is probably too much for them to deal with.
I don’t know. #20, KJM, Tate, and taking on Bertans’ contract is a pretty compelling offer. It’d give them a couple good pieces and free up some cap for Kyrie. I’m not sure they’ll get many better offers (assuming that’s the Rockets’ offer).
#20, a future second, KMJ and Nix or Garuba might also be good enough for #10 and Bertans tbh In this kind of deal, we need to keep Tate or KMJ.
Good to keep hearing Rockets are locked into the core. Some people are ready to dump, trade or consolidate assets but this is not the time. I want to throw these kids to the fire and see then pass/fail under a system built to win. If they fail, then we package them.
While I have been pretty against actually using 2 FRP this year, hard to pass up on 4th and 10th. We don't have to do in this trade, but we really need to consolidate Christopher, Garuba, and TyTy into players and/or future FRP/SRP.
Nice call on this. Kelly mentioned Rockets having discussions with Heat and Mavs. Cam Whitmore seems to be sliding, so he would be 1 potential option at 10. Sounds like Rockets are targeting shooters at 20 and a few names will be available, so not sure if a trade up is strongly considered, but we shall see!
This is from a Hawks forum, not sure if the guy is credible or not. Could be their version of Basketballholic, but also makes sense as potential pieces to send to Dallas.
Capela for something like KJ and #20 has made sense to me for a while and would fill one of our biggest needs. Can’t play both him and Sengun on the court together though.
I figured Capela would go to Dallas and we nab the 10th. That aside, Sengun is likely a bench player in the long term. The defense is just too bad.
We would likely have to eat Bertans and McGee's contracts, as well as send another rotation guy like Tate to Dallas.
Mavs want Capella but Atlanta wants to give them John Collins. Mavs are not going to trade with us after the Wood swap for a FRP
