Now that he's with Washington he doesn't really have a choice. Offer Tate and Christopher for him and call it a day.
So, work me through the math on how this works Rockets - probably the team cp3 wants to go to the least. Trade 2 salaries that don't match And despite the fact that Washington explicitly acquired Paul in order to move his salary off the books And then CP3 asks for a buyout Rockets say NO YOU HAVE TO PLAY FOR US CP3 suspended ???? Profit
Well if he doesn't want to be here it doesn't work.....thus the we would promise to cut him bit....and overpay this season. DD
CP3 could benefit from the Rockets making a deal with him to come in for the first half of the season, help set the tone like he did with OKC, and promise to trade him at the deadline or waive him if there's not a team he wants to go to with a decent trade package.... unless he wanted to stay of course.
Portland are trying to find a third team to send Paul to a contender. If we can somehow facilitate that fine.
CP3: That first year in Houston might’ve been top 2, top 3 or the best team I ever played on. Seriously. We were so connected. Defensively. Offensively. Those years I was in Houston, we played the entire season to get ready for one team: Golden State. Our defensive game plan, our offensive game plan, every single game was to get ready for Golden State. There’s a certain way you have to play to beat those teams. Why our team was so different that 2nd year was we didn’t bring back Trevor Ariza. Honestly. I mean that wholeheartedly. It’s so crazy the way the league works with analytics and all this different type of stuff. Sometimes you have executives says “This guy shoots 45% and this guy shoots 45% and they both do this.” You think you have the same player but you don’t. Trevor was a big part of that team. Just the way he could talk to Tuck, talk to James, talk to me. We were really good that next year but it was different not having TA in the locker room.
Ariza was the one who ruined everything looking for that big contract. The contract he signed with Suns was absolutely absurd and who did it help in the end? No one. His career went down the crapper the moment he left while we struggled to look for an effective replacement.
fake news. His contract wasn't even big and it was for a measly year. It was LTS ownership that ruined everything which is just extremely old news. the ironic thing is 2 years later they traded for him and he was making like $2 mil less lmao
I don’t see it happening. I’m sure he didn’t appreciate his exit from Houston. More than that, he still wants to win a chip and that won’t be in Houston. I’m sure he wants to go to a team that has a shot at a title next year even if it’s in a lesser role.
The Rockets were deep in the luxury Giving Ariza that one year 15 mil contract would have cost them A LOT more than just 15 mil....for one year of a washed up player that was the worst player in the playoffs for them the previous season. If I remember correctly, and I could be wrong, matching would have cost something like 45 mil for that one season.
We all agree with CP3. It also didn't help that he was out of shape that next season. I do remember us trying to hype up ourselves to James Ennis lol. Remember those summer work out videos he had playing 5 on 5 and he was hitting all his shots lol. We were on cloud 9. Then reality set in once the season started.
No, it's not my money, but a team doesn't win by lighting that kind of money on fire by giving them to washed scrubs who are the primary reason why your team lost in the playoffs the previous season.
