What and why is a "double red flag"? Riptide?

Yes. You should not be in the water under a double-red flag.
I was in the water just north of Panama City Beach last week under a single red flag and the water was very rough. I told my kids not to go in past their waist. Later my father, who lives near Pensacola Beach, told me that people are pulled out to sea in water much less than waist deep. We did see the lifeguards race to the other end of the beach at one point and soon after a Coast Guard helicopter flew by. Those warnings are there for a reason. Double-red is the worst, then single red, yellow & green.

Ignore Destin. It's like Cancun. Commercial and overly-tourist. Check out Pensacola Beach or Grayton Beach. A lot less people and the beaches are just as nice.

    Stay safe Murka ...

A giant snail that eats plaster and is a threat to human health was spotted in a Florida county, forcing it into quarantine

    • A giant African land snail was spotted in Broward County, forcing part of it into quarantine.
    • The snail is among the world's most invasive species and lays thousands of eggs at a time.
    • It eats plaster and paint and carries a parasite that can cause meningitis in humans.

Adult snails of this species can grow up to eight inches and lay thousands of eggs at a time. Their shells have pointy edges that are sharp enough to puncture the tires of vehicles that run over them. They also pose a serious risk to humans because they carry a parasite that can cause meningitis.

The giant snail is among the most invasive species in the world; it eats plaster, paint, and stucco, poses significant threats to vegetation, according to CBS.

Gotcha. I've only been in that **** once, surfing, and it was a bit way very scary.

Swim parallel to the beach until you get out of it, then swim in. That's all you can do.

I thought I'd have to stop that video before it finished, but it wasn't that bad. There was some Russian guy that got eaten alive in Egypt by a Tiger shark while swimming a week or two ago. I stopped that one a few seconds into the video. I can't stand watching stuff like that.
