Which, as I hate to say it but entirely in the optics of & at the end of the season, not re-signing him just might should could be considered the best off-season move this org did in '23 (not re-singing, even though there was an attempt). Hated to see him leave, enjoying seeing our Bad News Bears able to exploit him. Good W... was hoping & confident that FV could've shut it out-- good to get a W... great to throw a spike-strip down so our SpaceCity ShuttleBus stops skidding down the highway to hell, and even better to get a W (moral or not) off your Free Agent, Cy-Young Winning, 2x 2x Two-Time World Serious (sic SJL) champion
Yeah we shouldn't be expecting much from Abreu it appears. Just a bad contract for a guy who is on the decline. Meyers overall just isn't an impressive bat. People complain about Julks but Meyers numbers are looking worst.
Meyers and Julks are roughly equal hitters, both in the projections and what they’ve done this season. The difference is that Meyers is one of the best defensive CF in the world and Julks is a below average corner OF. (Full disclosure, Julks does have more baserunning value than Meyers, but over 600 pa, Meyers still is worth quite a bit more than Julks; Meyers is a roughly league average regular while Julks is a fringey bench player.)
