Who really cares.. look at what it takes to win a chip.. a multi-MVP winner and a top 10 all-time player of their position. Do we possibly have that in any of our guys? Doubt. Just draft for best ceiling at this point.
Drafting is such a crapshoot. Probably won’t know for a couple of years. I’m not in favor of trading away a lot of future assets. So, I wouldn’t want to see that.
we'll pooch the punt... ...jus like we always do... it'll look like a decent enough night - most will be relatively happy... 'not the move i would've made - but a solid acquisition(s)....' ...they'll be a number of 'in Ime I trust'.... trip i to the t... lol but it'll be fools gold... smh i like to temper my expectations... i find it less aggravating when the worse comes to pass... lol
Obviously I hope we "win" the draft but you never know until you actually see them play. 2021 draft, everyone was saying we won the draft - "Kobe-like" Jalen Green at 2, "youngest MVP" Alpi at 16 (still great pick though), "best defender" Garuba at 23 and Josh at 24. So far, JG hasn't been amazing (obv still have time), Alpi have potential but need to prove solid on defense, and Garuba is nowhere. Josh is super likeable but we don't know if he's gonna get another NBA contract yet
Boy, Fertits has screwed the pooch since becoming owner that people have PTSD. Relax, Stone has so far done a decent job, I think they will get it right. Sure, Fertits screwed up the last 5 years overall, but I think we have a solid foundation to build upon now. I choose to hope things will go well and that every member of the Fertits family (looking at you Patrick) stay for the most part out of it.
I think the only way to screw this up would be some desperate win now trade Hard to lose when you have Amen, Miller, Ausar, Whitemore to choose from. We can also easily hide them on the bench for a year while they develop behind a vet I’m more restless about free agency than the draft
Like Newlin said, the draft is always a crapshoot. There’s a pretty good chance we end up with a disappointing player (or players) no matter what we do. That’s the odds. Look at a draft from 10 years ago and see how many truly notable players were drafted (if you can even remember who most of them are). Could be our next superstar is a second round pick like Jokic. Who knows?
Yes, Rockets are drafting Amen by all accounts. Amen won't be an NBA player the minute he steps on the court.
I can already see it now! Associated Press............... "and in a shocker at #4 the Houston Rockets have selcted the Captain of the Gorn ship with their pick! Positives: Great low post defender and rebounder. Absolutely CANNOT be moved off his spot by anyone! Destroyed the combine record with 237 reps at 225lbs! Negatives: Subpar switch defender! Gives up way too many open looks from distance. Foul prone when beaten and is technical foul magnet (terrible temper)! Lowest standing max vertical and lane agility drill ever recorded at the combine!" Definition of a boom or bust pick! (Will have Bill Simmons on for pick evaluation tomorrow morning!)
